A multi-chip module (MCM) assembly comprising: a graphite substrate having a front surface and a back surface and comprising a plurality of silicon chips mounted on the front surface, a Printed Wiring Board (PWB) attached to the graphite substrate and provided with openings surrounding outer profiles of the silicon chips, the graphite substrate comprises one or more ink channels on the back surface and one or more ink feeding slots passing through the graphite substrate and being in fluidic communication with the respective one or more ink channels, so that each of the silicon chips can be fed with one or more different types of inks, the MCM assembly further comprises a graphite cover plate configured to cover the one or more ink channels of the graphite substrate.

A modular service station for servicing at least one inkjet printhead of an inkjet printing system, the service station comprising: a frame with mounted thereon at least one capping element and at least one wiping element, a means for horizontal movement of the at least one inkjet printhead between a printing position and a servicing position, the means for horizontal movement configured to enable a wiping process, a means for vertical movement of the at least one inkjet printhead, the means for vertical movement configured to enable capping, unclogging or purging processes in respect to the at least one inkjet printhead, and a waste ink tank in hermetic communication with the at least one capping element. A method of servicing an inkjet printhead of an inkjet printing system is also disclosed.

An ink-jet printer for printing on a thermoplastic card includes a support on which the card is placed and a printing station includes at least one ink-jet printhead for printing on the card. A reservoir is coupled to the ink-jet printhead and contains an ink comprising: a medium consisting of a low-boiling organic solvent; an auxiliary solvent consisting of a high-boiling organic solvent; and a coloring component soluble in the medium. The support includes a heating system to heat the card during operation of the printing station.

Ink-jet printer for printing on cards

An ink-jet printer for printing on cards includes a printing station having an ink-jet printhead. A reservoir containing an ink is coupled to the ink-jet printhead. The ink includes: a medium consisting of a low-boiling organic solvent, an auxiliary solvent consisting of a high-boiling organic solvent, and a coloring component soluble in said medium. A driving system is adapted to drive the printhead between a first operative condition wherein the ink ejected by the printhead impinges on the card, and at least a second operative condition, wherein the ink ejected by the printhead does not impinge on the card. A control unit is active on the printhead for commanding ejections thereof, and on the driving system for controlling movement of the printhead. The control unit is configured for commanding an ink ejection in the second operative condition before ink ejection in the first operative condition.

An ink-jet printer includes a printing station for ink-jet printing on a thermoplastic card includes a printhead coupled to a reservoir containing an ink comprising: a medium of a low-boiling organic solvent, an auxiliary solvent of a high-boiling organic solvent, and a coloring component soluble in the medium. A support carriage supports the card and is drivable between a first position in which the carriage does not face the printhead and a second position in which the carriage faces the printhead. A driving motor moves the carriage between the first and second positions along a guide member interposed between the printhead and a reference member to prevent ink ejected by the printhead from reaching the reference member. A detection device mounted on the carriage detects the reference member and generates a signal used by a control unit to regulate the driving motor.

A method and dot printer for dot printing on a card. A method includes receiving a card on a plate-like element of a carriage in a manner that a lateral movement of the card one of on or above the plate-like element is stopped by an abutment element, moving the plate-like element and card in a direction crosswise to the lateral movement until a main side of the card abuts a first abutment surface of an abutment structure and a main edge of the plate-like carrier abuts a second abutment surface of the abutment structure. The first abutment surface and the second abutment surface are not coplanar. The method also includes transporting the plate-like element and the card in a direction away from the abutment structure to a printing station and activating the printing station for dot printing on the card.

The device of the invention has a compact, inexpensive structure and is realized with a limited number of parts, and guarantees an accurate and silent functioning, reliable in time.
