Described herein are shortening compositions having reduced levels of saturated and trans fats. The compositions comprise cellulose fibers, a hard fat and a liquid oil. Also provided are methods of preparing such compositions and use thereof.

Shortening compositions and methods of making and using the same

A method for modifying ethylenic unsaturation in a triglyceride. One or more unsaturated fatty acyl moieties present in the triglyceride are substituted with a a lactone substitution, a dihydrofuran substitution, or a ketone substitution via an electron acceptor mediated reaction. The resulting reaction products are useful, for example, as lubricants, metalworking fluids, mold release agents, hydraulic fluids, or dielectric fluids, or as components of lubricants, metalworking fluids, mold release agents, hydraulic fluids, or dielectric fluids, and modified fatty acids for polymer synthesis.

Stabilized vegetable oils and methods of making same

A method for modifying ethylenic unsaturation in a triglyceride. One or more unsaturated fatty acyl moieties present in the triglyceride are substituted with a lactone or ketone moiety via an electron acceptor mediated reaction. The resulting reaction products are useful, for example, as formulations for lubricants, hydraulic fluids, dielectric fluids, and intermediates for polymer synthesis.

Shortening systems are prepared which include hydrogenated edible oils that are hydrogenated in a manner to minimize the formation of trans-stereoisomers. A conditioned catalyst is used which disfavors trans-stereoisomer formation without significantly negatively impacting the length of time required to form solids for a useful shortening base stock through hydrogenation. Preferred conditioning agents are organic acid phosphates and phosphoric acid, In a preferred embodiment, a confectionary shortening is provided which incorporates a polyglycerol ester emulsifier.

Low trans-stereoisomer shortening system

A golf swing quick adjustment training aid and method of use is used to teach a golfer the proper body position and swing when putting a ball. The training aid has a frame that is attached to the golfer's putter club. Two adjustable golf club grip handles are removably attached to the frame at adjustable positions in the same plane as the grip of the putter club. The handles may be adjusted to differing symmetrical distances from the putter club grip. Starting at the outermost position from the putter club grip, the golfer practices putting until the golfer is proficient in controlling the speed and direction of the ball. The handles are then adjusted nearer to the putter club grip and the process repeated, then the handles are again adjusted nearer to the putter club grip. This training is continued until the golfer becomes proficient in controlling the speed and direction of the ball with the handles at the innermost position. Then the golfer is ready to use the putter club grip to putt the ball. The golf swing quick adjustment training aid is used in this manner until the golfer becomes proficient in controlling the speed and direction of the ball using the putter club grip.
