The present invention relates to (fruit) juices and nectars formulations, comprising (LC)-PUFA's, which do not have the characteristic fish taste of the (long chain) polyunsaturated fatty acids. Furthermore, the present invention also relates to a base material, which comprises PUFA and &#x3b2;-carotene and the use of such a base material to produce a (fruit) juice or (fruit) nectar formulation.

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of deodorized and stabilized food-grade marine oils by submitting marine oils to a counter-current steam distillation (CCSD) in a thin film column containing a structured packing and, if desired, adding antioxidant(s), to the food-grade marine oils thus obtained and to their uses in the food/feed, cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical industry.

Deodorization and stabilization of marine oils

A process for stabilizing fully or partially refined marine oil is disclosed. Here marine oil is treated with silica having a surface area greater than 500 m.sup.2 per gram. Then the silica treated oil is soft vacuum steam deodorized at a temperature between 140.degree. C. and about 210.degree. C. Finally the oil is treated with a combination of lecithin, ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol in ratios of 6-3:4-2:8-4 the range of 1000 parts per million to 4000 parts per million.
