A piston for an internal combustion engine may include an at least partially extending circumferential cooling duct for circulating a coolant. The coolant duct may be closed by a cooling duct cover apart from an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The inlet opening and the outlet opening may be arranged in the cooling duct cover. A guide element may be disposed in a region of the inlet opening configured to catch an incident coolant jet. The guide element may guide the coolant jet into the cooling duct and deflect the coolant jet in precisely a circumferential direction along the cooling duct.

Piston

A method for the production of a piston for an internal combustion engine, having a piston head, a piston skirt, and a circumferential recess configured between the piston head and the piston skirt. The piston has a piston base body and a piston ring element. The piston base body has at least a crown region of a combustion bowl as well as the piston skirt. The piston ring element has at least a piston crown, a wall region of the combustion bowl, a circumferential top land, and a circumferential ring belt with ring grooves. The piston ring element has a circumferential cooling channel between the wall region of the combustion bowl and the ring belt, closed with a closure element. The piston base body and the piston ring element are connected by a circumferential joining seam in the region of the combustion bowl.

Piston for an internal combustion engine and method for its production

A method for producing piston for an internal combustion engine which has a piston head that has a circumferential cooling channel as well as a combustion bowl having a circumferential bowl wall that makes a transition into a piston crown by way of a bowl edge region. The combustion bowl is formed at least in part by a piston base body and the bowl wall is formed at least in part from an insert. The insert is connected with the piston base body by means of beam welding. A lower weld seam is configured in the bowl wall, which seam encloses an acute angle with the piston center axis (M) and ends in the lower half of the cooling channel. An upper weld seam runs from the cooling channel ceiling to the piston crown and is disposed centered or radially offset toward the outside, with reference to the clear width of the cooling channel.

The piston has a piston base body and a piston ring element. The piston base body has a crown region of a combustion bowl and the piston skirt. Piston for an internal combustion engine

A piston for an internal combustion engine has an upper part and a lower part. The upper part has a collar with a ring rib and the lower part has a wall and a contact part radially within the wall. When the upper part is connected with the lower part by friction welding, the face surfaces of the ring rib, the collar, the wall, and the contact part form friction-welding surfaces and form a cooling channel and a cooling cavity between them. To supply the cooling channel and the cooling cavity with cooling oil, radial bores are introduced into the ring rib, which bores connect the cooling channel with the cooling cavity. In this way, it is guaranteed that a sufficient residual amount of oil collects in the cooling channel and in the cooling cavity, which amount is constantly renewed, and leads to good cooling of the piston crown.

The invention relates to a split piston for an internal combustion engine, comprising an upper piece, connected to a lower piece, by means of a screw connection. The screw connection comprises a tubular connector piece, mounted on the underside of the piston upper piece with an external thread, a spacer sleeve with an external and an internal thread and a support rib formed on the lower piece of the piston with an internal thread. The upper piece can thus be screwed to the lower piece, by means of the connector piece, the spacer sleeve and the support rib. The spacer sleeve acts as a compressing body and the connector piece as an extending body, to generate the mechanism tension necessary for fixing the screw connection.

Split piston for an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a method for producing a ring support () with a sheet metal cooling channel welded thereon (), which is transfused later with an aluminium melt for producing a piston. The aim of the invention is to improve the production of openings () for supplying and removing oil. Said openings are produced even before the transfusion of the cooled ring support. When the alfin pretreament of the cooling ring supports occurs, said cooling channel is filled with melt and emptied again during removal front the alfin bath.

Method for producing a ring support with a sheet metal cooling channel welded thereon

The invention relates to a piston for a diesel engine comprising a combustion cavity. The piston crown and the cavity are plasma-sprayed with a coating. The aim of the invention is to produce the coating in a cost-effective manner. To achieve this, the layer thickness of the coating is uneven, being thicker in the border region of the cavity.

Diesel engine piston

A piston with a cooling channel having a basic piston barrel made from forged steel and a box-shaped shaft, bosses and boss supports and connecting walls between the boss supports as well as a combustion trough. The piston increases the rigidity of the ring part. To accomplish this, the piston has a wall extending all around above the boss bores. A structural component is welded in between the wall and the piston head and limits the cooling channel. This design increases the rigidity of the ring part in pistons.

A piston for an internal combustion engine with a separate head and skirt which are joined by a piston pin. The ring belt extends downward from head and terminates above the pin. The space between the lower edge of the ring belt and a section of the head defines a cooling oil ring space. A depression is formed in the head and is partly defined by the section. The second land has the largest diameter and exclusively guides the piston. The height of the second land is in the range of three to seven percent of the piston diameter. The diametrical second land clearance is 1.5% to 2.5%. The diametrical third land clearance is one percent of the piston diameter. The diametrical top land clearance is in the range of 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm.
