A method and system for managing one or more high frequency service items associated with a device. A parent/child relationship between the high frequency service items can be defined to track replacement of components based on a service action related to a child component. A taxonomy of related service items and servicing functions can be specified in an XML document associated with the rendering system. The relationship between the high frequency service items can be indicated utilizing a related component indicator and a HFSI counter. A parent component can be replaced by a maintenance operator and an aggregate child component can be rebuilt by a service engineer in order to retain the component life thereby reducing down time and service costs.

Method and system for managing service intervals for related components

A method and system for managing field convertible operator replaceable components associated with a rendering device. A file that defines a set of operator replaceable components can be created and remotely installed on the device. The replaceable components associated with the device can be easily changed from a designation as a customer service engineer replacement component to an operator replacement component and vice versa. A determination that an operator is allowed to replace the component can be made based on a training level provided to the operator, the component availability, a usage pattern, and/or a security level. Such an approach enables the operator to perform the majority of maintenance on the device without requiring the services of a field engineer.

Method and system for managing field convertible customer replaceable components

Method and systems maintain historical printing device information from a plurality of printing devices, maintain historical actions performed on the printing devices, and maintain historical print image quality produced by the printing devices within a storage medium of a computerized device. These methods and systems determine which of the historical actions increase the print image quality and which of the historical actions decrease the print image quality, using the computerized device. The methods and systems output an action effectiveness report from the computerized device. The action effectiveness report indicates which of the historical actions increase/decrease the print image quality.

Evaluating and managing image quality performance and improving service effectiveness of groups of production printers

An approach is provided for cloud administrative management of spatial uniformity correction useful in printing. The approach involves determining, by a cloud administration system, an achievable gamut achievable by an imaging system for at least one of: all spatial locations of an output image, all print engines of a plurality of print engines, and at least one printer within a cluster of printers. The approach also involves determining, a mean gamut. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, a gamut mapping from the mean gamut to the achievable gamut. The approach additionally involves determining a set of transformations for each of a set of input colors to a set of target colors, the set of target colors selected from colors in the achievable gamut. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, an output image to be generated based, at least in part, on the transformed values.

Method and apparatus for managing common color profiles for one or more printing devices by a cloud administration system

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for improving print quality. In one embodiment, a method of optimizing printer output quality is provided which includes identifying media in at least one media tray, querying a media database for a record corresponding to the identified media, extracting data from a record of identified media, adjusting printer operation based upon the extracted data, and printing on the identified media, wherein the printer operation is adjusted on a page-by-page basis within a single print job. Typical parameters which are adjusted during the print job are the transfer voltages and the volume of toner deposition. In another embodiment, media is assigned to groups based upon its color and print parameters are adjusted as different colors of media are used.

Method and system for improving print quality

Main job production progress is monitored so that sample copies of parts of the main job that are designated critical or representative of the job as a whole can be produced on a regular interrupting basis. The samples are used to monitor production quality. Digital printing system modules are arranged and configured to provide a sample job destination separate from the main job destination.

The concept of a document assembly tree is extended to include in nodes, such as a node describing a sheetor a node describing a compilation, a sample interval specification. An image reproduction system enables an operator to switch between different sets of finishing instructions by switching a shadow job ticket between an active state and an inactive state. Ticket management software assembles a composite job ticket having finishing instructions and provides those instructions to a printer. If the shadow job ticket is in its active state, finishing instructions from a base job ticket are superceded by corresponding instructions from the shadow job ticket. If the shadow job ticket is in its inactive state, the ticket management software assembles a composite job ticket without using the shadow job ticket.

Composite job tickets to support proofing

A digital printing system ( ) includes a method to request and receive customized job status information. A document assembly tree ( ) is extended to include the ability to enter status report frequency specifications at a compilation node ( ), or at any other node, such as an intermediate sheet node ( ) or sub-compilation node ( ).
