A method comprises: receiving wine evaluations of wines from wine panelists, each wine evaluation including intensity values describing a plurality of wine characteristics for each of a set of wines, each wine evaluation generated by a wine panelist; generating a global intensity value from particular intensity values describing a particular wine characteristic of a particular wine, the particular intensity values being from the wine evaluations; comparing a selected intensity value generated by a selected wine panelist describing the particular wine characteristic for the particular wine against the global intensity value to determine an accuracy deviation; comparing the accuracy deviation against an accuracy deviation threshold to determine whether the selected intensity value is deemed inaccurate based on the comparison; updating the global intensity value for the particular wine characteristic for the particular wine based on the accuracy determination; and storing the updated global intensity value in a wine database.

Systems and methods for evaluation of wine characteristics

A method for uncertainty estimation for nonlinear inverse problems includes obtaining an inverse model of spatial distribution of a physical property of subsurface formations. A set of possible models of spatial distribution is obtained based on the measurements. A set of model parameters is obtained. The number of model parameters is reduced by covariance free compression transform. Upper and lower limits of a value of the physical property are mapped to orthogonal space. A model polytope including a geometric region of feasible models is defined. At least one of random and geometric sampling of the model polytope is performed in a reduced-dimensional space to generate an equi-feasible ensemble of models. The reduced-dimensional space includes an approximated hypercube. Probable model samples are evaluated based on data misfits from among an equi-feasible model ensemble determined by forward numerical simulation. Final uncertainties are determined from the equivalent model ensemble and the final uncertainties are displayed in at least one map.

Uncertainty estimation for large-scale nonlinear inverse problems using geometric sampling and covariance-free model compression

To analyze content of a subterranean structure, electric field measurements at plural source-receiver azimuths in a predefined range are received. Total magnetic field measurements are also received at plural source-receiver azimuths in the predefined range. The electric field measurements and the total magnetic field measurements are provided to an analysis module to enable determination of electrical resistivity anisotropy of the subterranean structure.

Providing measurements to enable determination of electrical resistivity anisotropy of a subterranean structure

Method of determining electrical anisotropy in a subsurface formation, wherein electromagnetic field data from a multi-offset electromagnetic survey obtained by using an electromagnetic source and a plurality of electromagnetic receivers at varying offset distances from the source is provided. The electromagnetic field data comprises a first set of multi-offset response signals received at each receiver with the electromagnetic source emitting at a first frequency, and at least one additional set of multi-offset response signals received at each receiver with the electromagnetic source emitting at a different frequency. The presence of electrical anisotropy in the subsurface formation is determined using the first and at least one additional sets of multi-offset response signals. This may comprise comparing the first set and the at least one additional set of multi-offset response signals and determining the presence of electrical anisotropy in the subsurface formation from the comparison of the sets of multi-offset response signals.

Method of determining electrical anisotropy in a subsurface formation

Methods and related systems are described for analyzing electromagnetic survey data. Electromagnetic survey data of a subterranean formation is obtained using at least a downhole transceiver deployed in a borehole and a transceiver positioned on the surface or in another borehole. The electromagnetic survey data includes an incident wave component and a scattered wave component. The incident and scattered components are correlated so as to generate an image of the subterranean formation indicating spatial locations of one or more features, for example, electrical properties such as resistivity variations, in the formation. The image is based at least in part on one or more interference patterns of the incident and scattered wave components. The correlation preferably includes generating a simulation of the incident wave component propagated into the formation, and convolving the simulated propagated incident wave component with the scattered wave component. The simulation can be performed using an analytic continuation or a fullwave simulation.
