The present invention pertains to novel treatments of neuropathic pain; in particular chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathic pain (CIPNP). The invention provides antagonists cytochrome P450 epoxygenases (CYP), and more specifically antagonists of CYP2J2, as therapeutics for use in the treatment of neuropathic pain such as CIPNP. CYP2J2 antagonists were identified to alleviate CIPNP in-vivo, and therefore are provided additionally in combination with chemotherapeutics for the treatment of diseases such as cancer or other proliferative disorders. The CYP2J2 antagonists reduce chemotherapeutic induced pain and therefore allow for a higher dosing of the chemotherapeutic during cancer treatment. In addition the invention relates to the use of CYP2J2 agonists, or metabolites of CYP2J2, for sensitizing TRPV1. In this context the invention proposes to use combinations of CYP2J2 agonist or metabolites and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) agonists to treat disorders that respond to TRPV1 agonists, such as neuropathic pain.

CYP2J2 antagonists in the treatment of pain

The present invention pertains to a fusion polypeptide for use in treating and/or preventing organ failure in a subject suffering from sepsis, said fusion polypeptide comprises at least (i) a first portion being a Fc portion of an immunoglobulin and (ii) a second portion comprising the extracellular portion of the human B7-H1 polypeptide or a variant thereof. Moreover, also encompassed by the invention is a polynucleotide encoding said fusion polypeptide for use in treating and/or preventing organ failure in a subject suffering from sepsis.

The present invention pertains to an N-terminally truncated interleukin (IL)-38 protein, or functional variants thereof, as well as to nucleic acids and vectors encoding the truncated IL-38 peptide and recombinant cells comprising these nucleic acids or vectors. The invention shows that IL-38 is N-terminally processed and that the truncated version of the cytokine acts as an antagonist of immune activation in macrophages. This indicates a use of the truncated cytokine in the treatment and prevention of autoimmune disorders. The invention further provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising the truncated IL-38 protein, and method for screening modulators of the function of truncated IL-38.

N-terminally truncated interleukin-38

The present invention pertains to compounds and their combination for use in the prevention or therapy of a subject suffering from an autoimmune disease such as diabetes type 1. Provided are antagonists of T-cells that are used in combination with antagonists of the cytokine CXCL10, sequentially or concomitantly, in a subject suffering from an autoimmune disease, in particular diabetes type 1.
