Aspects of the present invention provide a corn protein isolate, comprising at least about 85 wt % corn protein on a dry basis; an 'a*' color value ranging from about −0.5 and 1.5, and a “b” color value ranging from about 10 and 25; and less than about 1.5% oil on a dry basis. Further aspects include methods of making the same.

Disclosed herein is a method of maintaining corn protein yield during extraction and managing stickiness and viscosity comprising obtaining a corn material having a corn protein content and washing the corn material to remove non-protein components with an ethanol-water solvent comprising at least 85 wt % ethanol to obtain a corn protein isolate, wherein the loss of corn protein content during extraction is less than 10% of total corn protein.

The inventors disclose and teach herein a device that quickly and reliably attaches rigging to a fishing line, especially trolling lines. The device includes a spring-loaded clip with means for attaching additional accessories to the clip, such as weights. Accordingly, in the context of trolling, a trolling depth can be set and readjusted rapidly simply by clipping different weights onto the line. Moreover, the clip includes a side-opening for receiving a fishing line in compression between a spring-loaded plunger and anvil. The line is further secured by an embossed retainer blocking the line from slipping out from between the plunger and anvil.

A modified oilseed material formed from oilseed-based material is described. The modified oilseed material can be utilized in a variety of nutritional applications, including the preparation of protein supplemented food products such as beverages, processed meats, frozen desserts, confectionery products, dairy-type products, and cereal grain products. The modified oilseed material typically includes at least 85 wt. % protein (dry solids basis), at least about 40 wt % of the protein in the modified oilseed material has an apparent molecular weight of at least 300 kDa, and/or the modified oilseed material has a MW50 of at least about 200 kDa.

Modified oilseed material with a high gel strength is described. The modified oilseed material can be utilized in a variety of nutritional applications, including the preparation of protein supplemented food products such as processed meat products. The modified oilseed material typically includes at least 85 wt. % protein (dry solids basis) and has excellent functional properties. For example, the modified oilseed material can include at least about 40 wt. % of the protein has an apparent molecular weight of greater than 300 kDa, a gel breaking strength of at least 0.50 N, and/or the protein has a MWof at least about 200 kDa.

Heat-exchanging devices for cooling or heating liquids in a bottle or can, which include in a first embodiment, an elongated cooling or heating tube having a tube bore filled with a refrigerant/heating fluid such as water and sealed at the top, with liquid flow openings provided in the tube, or in a tube connector attached to the tube above a tube seal. The tube or tube connector is fitted with a cap having internal threads for engaging the external threads of the bottle neck of the bottle into which the cooling tube is inserted. In second and third embodiments the insertable tube contains a pair of interconnected reservoirs containing liquids that will create an exothermic or endothermic reaction when mixed. A disc separating the liquids is ruptured by button action at the base of the tube to facilitate mixing of the liquids by gravity. Access to the cooled or heated liquid in the bottle is gained in each case by inverting the bottle in conventional manner to allow a flow of liquid from the bottle through the openings in the upper portion of the tube or the tube connector and into a spout provided in the cap, for drinking purposes. In a preferred embodiment a sports valve may be provided on the spout for sealing the spout against inadvertent leakage or spillage of the contents of the bottle.

The premix can be utilized in a variety of nutritional applications, including the preparation of protein supplemented food products such as ready-to-eat cereals and other cereal grain products, wherein the modified oilseed material typically includes at least 85 wt. % protein (dry solids basis), and at least about 40 wt. % of the protein has an apparent molecular weight of greater than 300 kDa, and/or the protein has a MW of at least about 200 kDa.
