A brake fluid pressure controlling device is provided that controls a brake actuator to adjust brake fluid pressure in a wheel cylinder provided to correspond to a wheel. The brake actuator includes a passage for supplying the brake fluid to the wheel cylinder, a pump that discharges the brake fluid to the passage, and an electromagnetic valve that is located in the passage and adjusts the pressure of the brake fluid flowing into the wheel cylinder. The device includes a discharge rate detecting section, a signal generating section, a noise generating section, a noise overlaying section, and an electromagnetic valve controlling section. The discharge rate detecting section detects the discharge rate of the brake fluid discharged by the pump. The signal generating section generates a command signal for controlling the electromagnetic valve. The noise generating section generates noise, the noise being an AC signal corresponding to the detected discharge rate. The noise overlaying section overlays the noise onto the command signal, thereby generating an overlaid command signal. The electromagnetic valve controlling section controls the electromagnetic valve according to the overlaid command signal.

Brake fluid pressure controlling device

An object is to simplify the structure of electric wirings, and to facilitate installation. A vehicular motion quantity sensor and a steering angle sensor are installed in the same casing or mechanically connected directly with the casing. Therefore, it is possible to put together electrical wiring harnesses for transmitting the detection signals from the vehicular motion quantity sensor and the steering angle sensor to an ECU. Moreover, since all of the sensors can be located in the same compartment, the structure of the electrical wiring harnesses can be simplified and can be installed more easily.

Vehicle motion control device

A motion control devicefor a vehicle exerts braking force only on the rear wheel at the inner side of the turning direction for generating a yawing moment on the vehicle only in the turning direction of the vehicle when an absolute value of an actual lateral acceleration Gy is not more than a value Gyth, i.e., when there is a small possibility of the occurrence of an excessive roll angle on the vehicle body, in case where the turning state of the vehicle is the understeer state. The vehicle motion control system includes an automatic hydraulic pressure generator generating a hydraulic pressure irrespective of a brake pedal operation and a hydraulic pressure control valve adjusting the hydraulic brake pressure by opening or blocking a connection between the automatic hydraulic pressure generator and a wheel brake cylinder. The system includes vacuum pressure detecting means to adjust the hydraulic brake pressure in a appropriate condition. A vehicle motion control device includes a throttle opening amount automatic adjusting device for adjusting automatically the opening amount of the engine throttle valve irrespective of accelerator pedal operation, a control device for performing an automatic pressure increase control to the wheel cylinder at least during a non-operating condition of the brake pedal and for controlling the throttle opening amount automatic adjusting device, an intake vacuum pressure decrease condition detecting device for detecting a decrease condition of the intake vacuum pressure, and a counter for counting the number of times the automatic pressure increase control is performed under the intake vacuum pressure decrease condition. The control device corrects the throttle opening amount at the automatic pressure increase control to decrease based on the number of time the automatic pressure increase control is performed.

Vehicle motion control device with throttle opening amount adjustment

A vehicle motion control device reduces noise resulting from operation of a vacuum booster when an automatic pressure control is performed by properly controlling the energization of a linear solenoid of a booster actuator. An automatic hydraulic pressure generator is controlled in accordance with the vehicle motion condition and a hydraulic pressure control valve device is controlled to perform the automatic pressure control. A target electric current of the linear solenoid for actuating the vacuum booster is instantaneously increased to a starting target value which corresponds to an electric current value immediately before starting the operation of the vacuum booster and which is less than a maximum value of the target electric current, and then is gradually increased approximately to the maximum value of the target electric current.

The present invention is directed to a vehicle motion control system, which includes wheel brake cylinders, an automatic hydraulic pressure generating apparatus for generating a hydraulic braking pressure irrespective of operation of a brake pedal, a hydraulic pressure control valve device disposed between the pressure generating apparatus and the wheel brake cylinders to control the hydraulic braking pressure in each wheel brake cylinder, and a controller for controlling the pressure generating apparatus and the valve device in response to conditions of vehicle motion, and performing an automatically pressurizing control to the wheel brake cylinders at least when a brake pedal is not depressed, to perform a vehicle motion control. The controller is adapted to maintain the pressure generating apparatus to operate for a predetermined time period after the vehicle motion control was terminated, and control the valve device to shut off the communication between the pressure generating apparatus and the wheel brake cylinders, to modify the time period on the basis of the conditions of vehicle motion.

The present invention is directed to an apparatus for determining a state of braking operation of a vehicle. Wheel speed sensors are provided for detecting wheel speeds of a front wheel and a rear wheel. A wheel speed difference is calculated between the wheel speed of the front wheel and the wheel speed of the rear wheel detected by the wheel speed sensors. A braking operation detection device is provided for detecting an operation of a brake pedal. Based upon the calculated wheel speed difference and the operation of the brake pedal detected by the braking operation detection device, it is determined whether the brake pedal was rapidly depressed. In accordance with this result, and in response to the wheel speeds detected by the wheel speed sensors, the braking force applied to the front wheel can be adjusted in a predetermined relationship with the braking force applied to the rear wheel.

Apparatus for determining a state of braking operation

The present invention is directed to a brake control system for a vehicle, which includes a cut-off valve for opening or closing a main passage, which communicates a master cylinder with a wheel brake cylinder, and a pump for discharging the pressurized brake fluid to the wheel brake cylinder, with an outlet of the pump connected to a position between the cut-off valve and the wheel brake cylinder. An inlet valve is provided for opening or closing an auxiliary passage which communicates an inlet of the pump with the master cylinder. And, a controller is adapted to place the cut-off valve in a closed position thereof, place the inlet valve in an open position thereof, and actuate the pump to supply the pressurized brake fluid discharged from the pump into the wheel brake cylinder, when a brake-assist control is to be performed. A detection device such as a pressure sensor is provided for detecting an amount of operation of a brake pedal, so that the controller controls an amount of operation of the pump in response to variation of the amount of operation of the brake pedal detected by the detection device.

Brake control system for a vehicle

A braking force distribution control device for an automotive vehicle is designed to make it possible to initiate a braking force distribution control as rapidly as possible upon rapid braking operation while at the same time being capable of preventing a malfunction of the braking force distribution control even when one of hydraulic pressure lines fails. The braking force distribution control establishes a predetermined relationship between the wheel cylinder pressure of a front wheel and a wheel cylinder pressure of a rear wheel on the basis of a comparison between the wheel speeds of the front and rear wheels. The braking force distribution control is initiated when the decelerations of all the wheels exceed a set value.

Brake force distribution control device for automotive vehicles

The present invention is directed to a brake control system for a vehicle, wherein a first valve device for opening or closing a main passage, a hydraulic pressure pump, and a second valve device for opening or closing an auxiliary passage are disposed in each hydraulic pressure circuit of a dual hydraulic pressure circuit system. At least one of the first and second valve devices is controlled to equalize the slip rates of a pair of wheels, with the wheel brake cylinders operatively mounted thereon and disposed in different hydraulic circuits, and placed at the left side and right side of the vehicle, respectively, when a difference between the slip rates of the wheels placed at the left side and right side exceeds a predetermined value.

The present invention is directed to a brake control system for a vehicle, wherein a first valve device for opening or closing a main passage, which communicates a master cylinder with wheel brake cylinders, a hydraulic pressure pump for supplying the hydraulic pressure to the main passage, and a second valve device for opening or closing an auxiliary passage, which communicates the inlet of the pressure pump with the master cylinder, are disposed in each hydraulic pressure circuit of a dual hydraulic pressure circuit system. In the case where the slip rate of at least one of the front wheels is smaller than the slip rate of at least one of the wheels belonging to a different hydraulic pressure circuit from the hydraulic pressure circuit to which the one of the front wheels belongs, when the brake pedal is being operated, the hydraulic braking pressure discharged from the pressure pump is applied to one of the wheel brake cylinders operatively mounted on at least one of the front wheels, by controlling the second valve device for example.

A brake control apparatus includes a first valve to open and close a main line between a master cylinder and a wheel cylinder, a pump connected between a first valve and the wheel cylinder to supply pressurized brake fluid to the wheel cylinder, an auxiliary line connecting the inlet side of the pump to a master cylinder, a second valve to open and close the auxiliary line, a pressure sensor to detect the output pressure of the master cylinder and an electronic control unit which controls the first valve, the second valve, and the pump based upon the pressure detected by the pressure sensor so that the wheel cylinder receives a higher pressure than that of the master cylinder. The electronic control unit also closes the second valve while the pressure sensor detects the pressure over a certain pressure determined by the road surface condition.
