The system of the invention for adjusting a transmission ratio in a transmission, which is built into a motor vehicle, includes at least two determining elements with the aid of which values are determined based on different determining modes. These values represent the driving behavior of the driver of the motor vehicle. According to the invention, administrator means are provided with the aid of which the determined values are called up by the determining elements. Then, at least one counter value is changed in counter means in dependence upon the called up values. Finally, the transmission ratio is set at least in dependence upon the outputted values.

Engine control system

A method and device are described for controlling an element of a drive train, which is influenceable by an operating device, in a vehicle having a control unit and a storage device, the element and/or the operating device being implementable in different variants. In this case, at least one identifier is stored in the storage device, the identifier representing the respective variant of the element and/or of the operating element which is contained in the vehicle. The element is controlled by the control unit as a function of the respective identifier in accordance with the respective variant. At the same time, different states of the respective variant of the element are selected, in particular through the operating means, an identifier being assigned for each possible state. The respective identifier contains control information, and the control unit analyzes the control information of the identifier and controls the respective variant of the element in accordance with the analysis of the control information.

The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling a motor vehicle having an integrated electric machine which generates electric as well as mechanical power. In the context of a hierarchal control structure having several logic components, the electric machine is allocated as a component &ldquo;electric drive&rdquo; to the component &ldquo;drive&rdquo; with respect to its function for generating mechanical power and as a component &ldquo;generator&rdquo; to the component &ldquo;vehicle electric drive&rdquo; with respect to its function for generating electric power.

Method and arrangement for controlling a vehicle

The invention relates to a method for determining a transmission ratio for an automatic transmission arranged in the drive train of a motor vehicle. Operating parameters of the vehicle and especially of equipment arranged in the drive train are made available in a control apparatus to determine the transmission ratio. The invention provides that the transmission ratio (i) of the transmission is determined in dependence upon an instantaneous vehicle load.

The invention is directed to a system for adjusting a transmission ratio in a transmission built into a motor vehicle. The system includes at least two transmission ratio criteria with which first transmission ratios are determined based on at least two different determining modes. The system also includes a first arrangement with the aid of which a second transmission ratio is selected in accordance with a pregiven prioritization from the determined first transmission ratios. A system for adjusting a transmission ratio for a transmission built into a motor vehicle. Selection devices actuable by the driver of the vehicle are provided. With these selection devices, the driver can pregive pulses to change the transmission ratio. In a first component object, the pulse processing, pulses are detected whereupon in a second component object, the counter, count values are determined and stored in dependence upon valid pulses. In a third component object, the switch request, shift requests are determined in dependence upon count values and while considering pregivable peripheral conditions. The transmission ratio is adjusted in dependence upon the shift requests. With the defined interfaces of the objects, the exchangeability thereof is made possible whereby especially a reuse of the software is facilitated.

Process to evaluate cornering for an automatic gearbox

The invention proceeds from a motor vehicle having a drive train and the elements of the drive train are rotatable. The determination of a quantity, which represents the traction resistance, takes place in such a manner that an acceleration quantity is detected. This acceleration quantity represents the instantaneous acceleration of the vehicle. Furthermore, a reference quantity for the acceleration of the vehicle is detected and the quantity, which represents the traction resistance, is determined in dependence upon a comparison of the detected acceleration quantity with the determined reference quantity. The essence of the invention is that a rotation quantity is determined which represents the rotation torque of at least one element mounted in the drive train. The determination of the reference quantity takes place in accordance with the invention in dependence upon the determined rotation quantity. It is especially provided that the rotation quantities of individual elements, which are mounted in the drive train, are determined separately.

Method and device for determining a variable representing the road resistance on a motor vehicle

The invention proceeds from a system for considering differing amounts of components for determining at least one control quantity such as for controlling the operation of a motor vehicle. Such a system is known from the state of the art wherein a value is determined as a control quantity for the adaptive transmission control. This value characterizes the type of driver or the driving style. At least two different supply objects (for example, start-up evaluation, gradient evaluation) are provided with the aid of which, for each case, a component for determining the control quantity is determined. The determined components are then supplied to at least one collector which forms the evaluation quantity, for example, by maximum formation, weighted and/or moving-window sum formation of the individually determined components. The essence of the invention is that means are provided with which the supply of the components of the supply objects is controlled to the collector. With the system of the invention, it is possible in a simple manner to adapt the number of components, which are to be considered for the formation of the evaluation quantity, to the particular situation.

Process to evaluate start-up for an automatic gearbox

The invention proceeds from a system for determining the changes in gear ratio for an automatic transmission of a vehicle. In the system, at least two different pregiven associations (shift programs) are selected in dependence upon the detected vehicle speed and the detected accelerator pedal position. The selection of these associations (shift program) takes place with the aid of a specific adaptation quantity. The essence of the invention is in the determination of this adaptation quantity and therefore in the selection of the different shift programs. According to the invention, the selection of the associations or shift programs takes place in such a manner that one of the two associations is set as the base adjustment, that is, as the base shift program. The other association, or in the case of several alternative associations, the other associations are set for only a specific time duration. After this time duration has elapsed, the system of the invention automatically returns to the base setting.

System for determining the gear ratio changes for an automatic

The invention is directed to a system for determining the changes in gear ratio for an automatic transmission of a vehicle. Such an automatic transmission can be a fully automatic shifting step transmission or a known continuously variable transmission or an automated manual shift transmission. For determining the changes in gear ratio, a detection device for detecting the vehicle road speed and a determination device for determining the gear ratio changes of the automatic transmission are provided at least in dependence upon a first adaptation quantity. The essence of the invention is that the first adaptation quantity is determined from a time-dependent trace of the road speed of the vehicle. With the system, information is provided as to whether the vehicle is, at a particular point in time, in city traffic (low vehicle speed), on a country road (average vehicle speed) or on an expressway (high vehicle speed). This data is obtained in a simple manner via an evaluation of the trace of the road speed.
