A navigation assistance system and method determines limited access highway entrance points as destinations in a geographic information system. In one aspect, the limited access highway entrance points are stored as destinations in a geographic database within the geographic information system such that a telematics service provider can provide directions to the limited access highway entrance points.

A method for reducing non-value added time between calls serviced at a call center includes selectively enabling an after-call-work state that is configured to be activated during a call from a subscriber vehicle when an advisor at the call center indicates a need for the after-call-work state. If the advisor does not activate the after-call-work state during the call, then upon completion of the call, automatically setting an operator station of the advisor to a call ready state. If, however, the advisor activates the after-call-work state during the call, then upon completion of the call, the method includes activating the after-call-work state.

The invention provides a method of searching for features of interest in proximity to a mobile vehicle. A vehicle location coordinate and a vehicle proximity parameter are provided to a vehicle proximity search application. The application generates a vehicle proximity area for the mobile vehicle based on the mobile vehicle location coordinate and the vehicle proximity parameter. The application may access a database containing features of interest. A feature or element of interest that has any portion of it in the vehicle proximity area is selected. The distance from each feature of interest to the mobile vehicle location is calculated.

The present invention provides a method, system, and computer usable medium for indicating road direction for vehicle instruction for a one-way street. This may be done when a road database is provided and includes at least one start point and at least one end point to indicate a portion of the road. This may also be done by determining a center point between the start and end point. This may also be done by determining a compass bearing from the center point based on the position of the start point and end point. This may also be done by determining an angle of orientation indicator based on the compass bearing of the center point.
