Acidified beverages are prepared including an oligosaccharide such as inulin or oligofructose and a high intensity sweetener. In the acidic environment of the beverage, suitable oligosaccharides hydrolyze to their sweeter components, thus compensating for loss of high intensity sweetener due to its decomposition over time.

Sweet-stable acidified beverages

Acidified beverages contain an acidulant, a flavor component and a high intensity sweetener mixture of aspartame and acesulfame potassium. The beverages exhibit high flavor, low chemical taste, balanced sourness and superior overall blendedness when the ratio of aspartame to acesulfame potassium is from about 4:1 to about 2:1.

Acidified fruit and iced tea beverages incorporating high intensity sweetener blends

A flavored beverage includes a raspberry flavor; as well as a blend of acesulfame potassium with at least one additional sweetener. The dry mix for the beverage has an acid level of between 50 and 75 percent by weight.

Colas are prepared by mixing cola flavor, caramel color, and optionally caffeine with carbonated water, aspartame, acesulfame potassium and an acid component wherein the weight ratio of aspartame to acesulfame potassium is from about 1:1 to about 9:1 and (b) maintaining the admixture at a pH of from about 2.5 to about 3.3 with the proviso that the pH is at least about 2.5 or -0.05 R+2.9 whichever is the greater and further wherein the pH is less than about 3.3 or -0.06 R+3.4 whichever is the lesser; where R is the weight ratio of aspartame to acesulfame potassium.
