A hydraulic assembly for a vehicle brake system comprising at least two brake circuits and wheel brakes associated with the brake circuits. The hydraulic assembly comprises a pressure generator for generating a central hydraulic pressure for the brake circuits independently of the driver at least in the case of service braking initiated by the driver. Furthermore, at least one pressure adjusting device is provided for adjusting for each individual brake circuit the central hydraulic pressure that is generated by the pressure generator independently of the driver.

A hydraulic vehicle braking system comprises a master cylinder having at least one piston displacably accommodated therein, a mechanical actuator that is coupled, or can be coupled, to a brake pedal for actuating the piston, and an electromechanical actuator. The electromechanical actuator is likewise provided for actuating the piston and can be activated, at least for boosting or generating brake force, when the brake pedal is actuated. Furthermore, a valve arrangement is provided, which has a first valve per wheel brake for selectively uncoupling the wheel brake from the master cylinder, and a second valve for selectively reducing the brake pressure at the wheel brake. The valve arrangement can be controlled at least within the framework of an ABS control mode.

A method and a system for controlling a parking brake of a motor vehicle are described. According to the described method, an ignition signal and an actuation state of the parking brake are detected. An application force of the parking brake is then set to a first value in dependence upon the actuation state of the parking brake if the ignition signal is present. If the parking brake was previously in an applied actuation state, the application force is reduced from a second value to the first value. If the parking brake was previously in a released actuation state, the application force is increased to the first value. The first value is sufficient to hold the motor vehicle in its current position.

A method for determining a lack of capacity of a pump, actuated by an electric motor, of a hydraulic brake system of a motor vehicle comprises the steps of generating a hydraulic pressure in a first brake circuit of the brake system by means of a plurality of pump elements of the pump that are assigned to the first brake circuit, limiting the generated hydraulic pressure to a test pressure and simultaneously acquiring a motor-related parameter, and determining a lack of capacity of at least one of the pump elements on the basis of a comparison of the parameter with a comparison value.

In a vehicle brake comprising a housing, a brake piston, which is accommodated in the housing and on which a brake lining is fitted, and a blocking device, it is provided that the brake piston is displaceable in the housing by means of an actuating device and that the brake piston is securable relative to the housing by means of the blocking device.
