Compositions and methods for down modulating target gene expression which RNA interference, as well as methods for administering said compositions are disclosed. The method comprises administering a first oligonucleotide strand to a cell, incubating the cells for a time period suitable for uptake of the first oligo nucleotide strand prior to administration of a second oligonucleotide strand, wherein the first strand and the second strand form an intracellular duplex which is effective to catalyze degradation of gene target mRNA or inhibit translation of said mRNA.

An aeroponic root system comprises a plant cell having a first root chamber coupled to a second root chamber. A perforated divider may be disposed between the first root chamber and the second root chamber. In some examples, a fluid delivery system may convey water, nutrients, oxygen (e.g., purified oxygen gas), and/or carbon dioxide to the plant according to corresponding delivery schedules. For instance, water and oxygen may be conveyed into the first and second root chambers via a main supply line. Carbon dioxide may be conveyed to a base of the plant via a carbon dioxide delivery ring. In some instances, the delivery schedules may be determined by a type of the plant and/or a growth stage of the plant.

Methods for modulating the efficacy of nucleic acid based therapies

The present invention provides methods and compositions useful in treating certain diseases herein termed 'Aberrant Programming Diseases,' including cancer and AIDS. According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a method for treating an individual having an Aberrant Programming disease comprising administering to said individual an effective amount of a composition selected from the group consisting of an expression vector, a double stranded oligodeoxynucleotide, and an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide; said composition capable of regulating expression of a transcriptional regulator, said transcriptional regulator being expressed by the Aberrant Programming cells and further characterized by exhibiting a therapeutically useful change in said cell behavior in the Reprogramming Test. In a separate embodiment new antisense oligodeoxynucleotides are provided.

The present invention provides novel compositions and methods useful in cancer therapy for inhibiting the multidrug resistance phenotype, which often thwarts long-term chemotherapeutic regimens. The novel compositions of matter comprise oligonucleotides targeted to the human MDR1 and MRP genes, which inhibit expression of these genes, thereby rendering tumors and other forms of cancer more susceptible to the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapeutic agents. Apparatus for stuffing a snailed endless pre-inked ribbon into a ribbon

Antisense oligonucleotides and composition of oligonucleotides are taught which inhibit the proliferation of cells without affecting cell viability. p53 antisense oligonucleotides are shown to inhibit the proliferation of tissue culture cells expressing this gene. Methods of treating a patient with such antisense oligonucleotides is described.
