A fuel injection device is installed in a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine in such a manner that a fuel injection port thereof faces a curved intake passage formed in the cylinder head. Fuel is injected from the fuel injection device directly toward a wall surface of the intake passage without aiming at an intake port.

Intake structure in internal combustion engine

To further enhance the durability of a fuel injection apparatus, to protect the fuel injection apparatus from external force by a simple configuration and to make it possible to readily perform an assembling operation or a maintenance or inspection operation of an engine on which the fuel injection apparatus is mounted. A motorcycle includes an engine having a cylinder extending forwardly and substantially horizontally. An intake port extends substantially rearwardly from an upper portion of a cylinder head of the engine, and a fuel injection apparatus for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber through the intake port, is disposed in the proximity of the cylinder head. A mounting boss is provided on an outer face of the intake port rearwardly of the fuel injection apparatus. The fuel injection apparatus is mounted on the mounting boss.

Mounting structure for a fuel injection apparatus for an engine of a small size vehicle

An intake path organizer forms an intake path communicating with an air cleaner. The intake path organizer has a fuel passage for guiding fuel from a fuel injection valve fitted into the intake path organizer, at least one fuel induction port having one end communicating with the fuel passage and the other end communicating with the intake path, and an air bleed passageway having one end communicating with the intake path further upstream than the fuel induction port and the other end communicating with the fuel passageway, all of the elements being provided in the intake path organizer to promote atomization of fuel in an engine fuel supply system. The fuel induction ports can open to the intake path in a direction orthogonal to the airflow in the intake path.

Engine fuel supply system

A fuel injection device for an engine constructed at a cost reduction by rational integral formation of a fuel supply pipe and a part of an injection pressure regulator. A regulator housing of an injection pressure regulator is divided into a housing body defining a fuel chamber and a cover defining a pressure regulating chamber. The housing body is integral with a fuel supply pipe at its end portion. The fuel supply pipe is connected at its side wall to a fuel injector.
