A cooling duct piston () for combustion engines. The cooling duct piston has a piston basic body () that is connected to a lining part (), which is facing an assigned combustion chamber. Here, the lining part () completely forms the piston surface () of the cooling duct piston () that faces the combustion chamber. An encircling depression () is provided in the surface of the piston basic body () facing the combustion chamber. The lining part () provides a permanent connection at least with the surface of the piston basic body () facing the combustion chamber, and thus bridges the encircling depression (), such that the encircling depression (), with the lining part () that bridges it, forms a cooling duct ().

Cooling duct piston and method for producing the same

A semifinished product blank, suitable for the production of a steel piston () for internal combustion engines having cylinder crankcases made of light metal alloys. Such a steel piston () has at least one upper piston part () which has a combustion recess () and an annular wall (), and a lower piston part () which has a piston skirt () and a connecting rod bearing (). The semifinished product blank is made of an austenitic steel, that is stabilized with Ni, Mn and N and that has a thermal expansion coefficient in a range of 16 to 21&#xd7;10K. Method for producing ceramic-metal composite bodies, ceramic-metal composite bodies and their use

The invention provides a fiber-reinforced composite ceramic containing high-temperature-resistant fibers, in particular fibres based on Si/C/B/N, which are reaction-bonded to a matrix based on Si, which is produced by impregnating fiber bundles of Si/C/B/N fibers with a binder suitable for pyrolysis and solidifying the binder, if desired subsequently conditioning the fiber bundles with an antisilicization layer suitable for pyrolysis, for example phenolic resin or polycarbosilane, subsequently preparing a mixture of fiber bundles, fillers such as SiC and carbon in the form of graphite or carbon black and binders, pressing the mixture to produce a green body and subsequently pyrolysing the latter under reduced pressure or protective gas to produce a porous shaped body which is then infiltrated, preferably under reduced pressure, with a silicon melt. This makes it possible to produce, in an efficient manner suitable for mass production, fiber-reinforced composite ceramics which have significantly improved properties compared with conventional composite ceramics and, in particular, are suitable for use in high-performance brake systems (FIG.,).

Fibre-reinforced composite ceramics and method of producing the same

A process for manufacturing ceramic metal composite bodies, the ceramic metal composite bodies and their use. The process is based on molten infiltration and the simultaneous or delayed exchange reaction of ceramic or metal ceramic un-fired bodies or sintered bodies which may consist of nitrides or carbides as well as metals, with molten metal of additional metals, whereby new nitride, carbide and intermetallic phases are formed which have improved wear and high-temperature characteristics. A process for manufacturing a ceramic metal composite body in the case of which a dimensionally stable and porous sacrificial body is produced from ceramic initial products and is filled at a filling temperature with a softened metal, particularly under an increased pressure. The filled sacrificial body is heated to a reaction temperature and the metal to be filled in, BMe, is reacted with a metal of the ceramics. KMe, forming the ceramic metal composite body which has a ceramic phase having KMe.sub.m B.sub.x and/or KMe.sub.n C.sub.y and/or KMe.sub.o CN and BMe.sub.p O.sub.3 and has a metallic phase having an intermetallic compound which is formed of KMe and BMe, the filling temperature being lower than the reaction temperature and higher than or equal to the softening temperature of the metal.
