Apparatus for consecutively metering discrete amounts of a divisible

A strand of sausage filling is pushed stepwise through a tube over which is fitted an empty sausage casing such that as the strand emerges stepwise from the downstream end of the tube it fills the casing. The filled casing is gripped between a pair of conveyor belts whose spacing is predetermined and is pulled away from the tube stepwise synchronously with the advance of the strand in the tube. Between advance steps of the strand and of the filled casing the tube is rotated such that the casing is twisted to form individual sausage links. The instantaneous speed at which the conveyor pulls the filled casing from the tube is proportional to the instantaneous speed of the strand in the tube. The spacing between the conveyor belts may also be varied automatically as a function of the overall conveyor operating speed.

Method of and apparatus for making link sausages

An apparatus for suspending loops of sausage links comprises a pickup member rotatable about a pickup axis and having an arm inclined at an angle to this axis and reaching toward a feeder for sausage links forming a chain. The feeder advances the sausage links along a feed axis which is laterally offset from the pickup axis. A drive rotates the pickup member so that the arm orbits the axis of the sausage chain and engages the latter between sausage links to suspend the latter in loops from the pickup member.

Suspending apparatus for loops of sausage links

An apparatus for producing sausage in which the sausage casing is drawn loosely over a filling tube through which the sausage filling is pumped and the sausage casing is rotated to twist off sections or links of sausage. The individual links or groups of links are cut by a blade arrangement positioned along the path of the sausage chain as it is displaced downstream of the filling tube by a conveyor arrangement.
