A method of determining a noise figure (NF) response of a device under test (DUT) comprises determining a frequency response of a noise receiver over a first frequency range, measuring a gain of the DUT over a second frequency range encompassing the first frequency range, measuring output-noise power of the DUT over the second frequency range, determining an estimated gain of the DUT based on the frequency response of the noise receiver and the gain of the DUT over the first frequency range, and determining the NF response of the DUT over the second frequency range based on the estimated gain and the output-noise power.

Noise figure measurement using narrowband compensation

A radio frequency (RF) measurement system acting as a spectrum analyzer and a method of operating the same eliminates image signals from a detected input RF spectrum. The method includes determining at least three local oscillator (LO) frequencies; determining LO offsets between the LO frequencies; and mixing the LO frequencies with the input RF spectrum to provide corresponding intermediate frequency (IF) signals having an IF bandwidth, where at least one of the IF signals has the input RF spectrum mixed to a different portion of the IF bandwidth than at least one other of the IF signals, providing overlapping coverage. The method further includes acquiring ADC time records for the IF signals; performing Fourier transforms (FTs) on the ADC time records to provide IF spectrums; and detecting RF responses from the IF spectrums to determine an RF response trace corresponding to the input RF spectrum.

System and method for image signal rejection

The present invention tunes a coupled resonator filter to a given tuning specification using a reference filter that was previously tuned to the specification. A method of tuning a subject filter comprises determining a frequency change for each resonator of the subject filter and applying each determined change to the respective resonator, such that the subject filter is tuned to the specification. The frequency changes are determined from frequency-pushing interactions between combinations of resonators in either the reference or subject filter. A system for tuning the subject filter comprises a measurement system, a tuning program stored in a system memory, and a controller that controls the measurement system and executes the tuning program. The tuning program comprises instructions that preferably implement the tuning method. A tuned coupled resonator filter comprises a plurality of resonators that are adjusted in accordance with the method or using the tuning system.
