A nutritional composition is provided which has an effective prophylactic and/or improving effect for various symptoms of muscle mass decrease, decreased basal metabolism, low body temperature, suppression of obesity, suppression of visceral fat accumulation, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and the like in elderly people. The nutritional composition can include n-3 fatty acid and one or more of free lysine, dipeptides containing lysine, and lysine salts, wherein the content of free lysine, dipeptides containing lysine, and/or lysine salts is 0.1 g-10.0 g per 100 kcal of the composition, and the content of the total amount of n-3 fatty acid is 0.17 g-5.00 g per 100 kcal of the composition.

Method for decreasing visceral fat or increasing energy consumption

The present invention relates to a nutrient composition which contains at least a carbohydrate, a lipid, a protein, and a mineral, and is liquid or semisolid, characterized in that the volume-based median size (d50) of particles in the nutrient composition is 5 to 100 &#x3bc;m and water-insoluble particles having a protein insolubilized by a divalent cation are contained as a major component of the nutrient composition, or a nutrient composition which contains at least a carbohydrate, a lipid, a protein, and a mineral, and is liquid or semisolid, characterized in that water-insoluble particles having a protein insolubilized by a divalent cation are contained as a major component of the nutrient composition and the mass of the protein with respect to the total moles of divalent ions forming the water-insoluble particles is 1.5 to 3 g/mmol.

Nutrient composition

The invention provides a total enteral nutritious composition containing proteins, sugars, fats, minerals and vitamins, which improves serum albumin and ameliorates bedsores. The total enteral nutritious composition has a zinc/copper weight ratio of 10-25, and a zinc content of 1.5 mg or greater, a copper content of 0.075-0.15 mg, a sodium content of at least 185 mg, a vitamin B1 content of at least 0.30 mg, a vitamin B2 content of at least 0.25 mg and a protein content of at least 4.0 g, per 100 kcal of the composition. Preferably it has a protein content of at least 5.0 g, a vitamin B6 content of at least 0.30 mg, a biotin content of at least 1.0 &#x3bc;g, a vitamin B12 content of at least 0.20 &#x3bc;g, a folic acid content of at least 20 &#x3bc;g, a &#x3b2;-carotene content of at least 100 &#x3bc;g and a vitamin C content of at least 10 mg. Medium-chain fatty acid oils preferably constitute 35% by weight of the fats of the fat source, per 100 kcal of the composition. The preferred composition viscosity is 6-18 mPa&#xb7;s (25&#xb0; C.)
