An exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of terminating reduction control in proper timing when a NOx cleaning catalyst includes an auxiliary catalyst having an oxygen storage capacity, thereby making it possible to reduce exhaust emissions and improve fuel economy. The exhaust emission control device includes the NOx cleaning catalyst and an ECU. The NOx cleaning catalyst includes the auxiliary catalyst having an oxygen storage capacity. The ECU executes reduction control when predetermined conditions for executing the reduction control are satisfied. During execution of the reduction control, when exhaust gas temperature is higher than a predetermined value, if a second excess air ratio is lower than a predetermined value, the ECU determines that the reduction control should be terminated. When the exhaust gas temperature is not higher than the predetermined value, if the remaining NOx amount is not larger than a predetermined value, the ECU determines that the reduction control should be terminated.

An exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided with a NOx removing device and a particulate filter in an exhaust system. A temperature of the exhaust system is detected. A switching control is performed for alternately performing a process for removing sulfur oxide accumulated in said NOx removing device and a regeneration process for burning particulates trapped in said particulate filter, when it is determined to be necessary to perform at least one of the removal of the sulfur oxide in said NOx removing device and the regeneration of the particulate filter. The switching control is performed according to the detected exhaust system temperature.

Exhaust gas purifying apparatus for internal combustion engine

A control system for an internal combustion engine that executes post injection, which is capable of accurately estimating the state of dilution of engine oil, thereby properly controlling the amount of oil dilution such that it does not become too large. In an internal combustion engine having an injector that injects fuel into a combustion chamber, post injection is executed in which fuel is injected from the injector during the expansion stroke or the exhaust stroke of the engine, based on a detected operating condition of the engine. The amount of dilution of engine oil diluted with fuel injected by post injection is calculated. The amount of fuel evaporated from the engine oil is calculated. A state of dilution of the engine oil is estimated based on the calculated engine dilution amount and the calculated fuel evaporation amount.

Control system and method for internal combustion engine

The invention provides a sound-reproducing apparatus and a high frequency interpolation-processing method in each of which high frequency interpolation processing having a light burden imposed thereon can be executed. Compressed audio data is decoded by a decoder () and the resulting audio signal is transmitted to a harmonizer (). Auxiliary information such as a sampling rate and a bit rate contained in the decoded audio signal is read out by a header reader () and is transmitted to a harmonizer (). Communication of signals from/to respective portions is made through a bus (). The harmonizer () has a preset for an interpolation band obtained in accordance with a format and a sampling frequency of the compressed audio data, and executes processing by referring to file information transmitted thereto from the header reader ().
