A computer-based method for use in geotargeting online ads to users of search engines by allowing comparison of user's search terms with a set of geo-keywords. The method includes providing a geographic keyword generator on a server that is linked to the Internet. The method includes providing a spatial database storing classes of geographic keywords. The method continues with receiving a keyword request including a business address from a client node. The keyword generator determines a service area based on this location, and a set of geographic keywords is retrieved from the spatial database that are associated (e.g., within) the determined service area. This set of keywords is transmitted or reported to the client node (e.g., displayed in a web browser or user interface) for use in geotargeting of their online advertisements. The keyword request includes a business type, and the service area is sized based on the business type.

Generating geographical keywords for geotargeting search engine-offered advertisements

A shoe has a sole with a toe, heel and arch. A two part heel has a low heel block attached to the sole heel and includes a slot therein. A high heel extension is attached to the low heel block through a support beam having a substantially rectangular cross-section capable of limited axial and pivotal movement. The fit between the beam and the slot prevents rotational movement of the high heel about its axis. The high heel extension can be pivoted between a first position where it underlies the low heel block and a second position where it lies beneath the sole arch. The bottom of the low heel block has a heel lift extending downwardly engaging the ground when the high heel is stowed. This low heel lift is enclosed by a beveled edge at the top of the high heel piece when it is vertical.

A method for tracing a communication route through a network coupling a first device with a second device is provided. A first signal is transferred from the first device to the second device to cause a plurality of intermediate devices to report first information concerning the first signal. The first information is processed to identify the intermediate devices as defining the communication route. The intermediate devices are configured so that a second signal, when transferred from the first device toward the second device, causes a subset of the intermediate devices to report second information concerning the second signal. The second signal is transferred from the first device toward the second device. The second information is processed to identify the subset of the intermediate devices as a portion of a sequence of the intermediate devices defining the communication route.

Communication network route tracing

A method and a communication system are disclosed for automatically verifying the identity of a network connection in an optical communication network. Each network component of the optical communication network stores an identification code. For the method, one step includes positioning a read system proximate to one of the network components. With the read system in the proper position, another step of the method includes reading the identification code stored on the network component. Another step of the method includes verifying the identity of a network connection based on the identification code read from the network component by the read system. Another step of the method includes indicating the results of the verification using the read system. Based on the results of the verification, a field technician may verify the identity of a network connection before connecting or disconnecting a fiber optic cable or otherwise handling the network component.

Network connection verification in optical communication networks

A method for adding a new wavelength to an optical communication network is provided. One step of the method includes installing a transmitter component in a transmitter node of the optical communication network. Another step includes installing a receiver component in a receiver node of the optical communication network. For each of a plurality of regenerator nodes in the optical communication network, the method includes the steps of determining whether the quality of optical signals for the new wavelength at the particular regenerator node satisfies a performance threshold, installing an optical regenerator component in the regenerator node for regenerating the optical signals if the quality of the optical signals at the regenerator node satisfies the performance threshold, and installing optical-to-electrical-to-optical regenerator components if the quality of the optical signals at the regenerator node does not satisfy the performance threshold.

Adding wavelengths to an optical communication network

An optical communication system comprises a first optical interface, an optical processing system, and a second optical interface. The first optical interface receives an optical signal that is phase-modulated and has a first wavelength. The optical processing system converts the first wavelength of the optical signal to a second wavelength that is different from the first wavelength without converting the optical signal into an electrical format. The second optical interface transfers the optical signal that is phase-modulated and has the second wavelength.
