A guide hole 16b is formed in the insulation cap 16 of a starter motor electromagnetic switch, and a coil terminal 30 inserted through the guide hole has one or more projections 30b formed at a location corresponding to the guide hole so that the projections are wedged against an inner surface of the hole, thus preventing any resonant vibrations of the terminal and the attendant severing of its attached lead wire 1a.

Brush device

A starter motor comprising; a solenoid switch having an attracting movable part; an electric motor arranged at one side in the axial direction; an output shaft driven by the electric motor; a one-way clutch unit carried on and around the output shaft so as to be slidable thereon; a shift lever having an upper end engaged with the attracting movable part, and a lower end engaged in a peripheral groove in the one-way clutch unit, the shift lever being arranged to be capable of rocking about a rocking fulcrum part which is positioned between the upper end and the lower end of the lever, and which is in touch with the inner surface of a front housing wall; wherein the lever has the upper end and the rocking fulcrum part positioned at the one side in the axial direction with respect to the lower end.

Starter motor

A brush device for a motor comprises two elongated lead wires 10a, 10b, a brush 2a connected to one end of each lead wire, and a terminal 6 connecting the other ends of the lead wires together. The wires are ultrasonically welded together at an intermediate position to form a reduced cross-section portion 11, which is sealingly surrounded by a rubber grommet 7.

Brush device for a motor

An electrical brush assembly for use with a d.c. dynamoelectric machine commutator 44 having a substantially cylindrical commutator contact surface 46 comprising an electrical brush element 48 having a sliding contact surface 50 engageable with the contact surface of the commutator. The brush element is slidably supported by a brush holder 54, and is urged against the contact surface of the commutator by a spring 58. The sliding contact surface of the brush element is a concave cylindrical surface having a central axis 62 substantially parallel to the central axis 45 of the commutator contact surface, and has a radius R2 about 1.2 to 2.5 times larger than the radius R1 of the commutator contact surface.

Electrical brush assembly

An overhang-type starter comprising a ball bearing fixedly fitted in a front bracket; a pinion drive shaft supported by the bearing; and a pinion formed on the shaft at the front end thereof so that the pinion is located in front of the bearing at least when the pinion is moved forward, wherein a water drain hole is provided in the ball bearing support portion of said bracket at the lowermost point of the portion and communicates with the interior of the bracket.

Overhang-type starter

A starter motor comprising a housing, an electric motor having an output rotary shaft and mounted within the housing, an over-running clutch axially slidably mounted on the output rotary shaft, a solenoid switch for shifting the over-running clutch, and a pinion shifter assembly. The pinion shifter assembly comprises a hollow cylindrical shifter main body placed between the output rotary shaft and the housing in a slidable and rotatable engagement therewith a pinion mounted on one end of the shifter main body for rotation therewith. The shifter main body is connected at the other end thereof to the over-running clutch, and the pinion is a member assembled on the one end of the shifter main body. The pinion may be connected to the shifter main body by splines and a compression spring may be disposed between the pinion and the shifter main body for allowing an axial movement of the pinion relative to the shifter main body.

Engine starter

A brush device in a rotary electric machine such as a starter motor. Brush accommodating arrangement of the brush device for accommodating brushes and brush springs are provided with a plurality of through-holes to radiate heat therethrough efficiently. The brush device is simple in construction and high in heat resistance.

A brush assembly for use with a commutator of a dynaomoelectric machine comprises an electrically insulating housing having an integral main body and a flat planar cover which, when assembled, define together a plurality of radially extending brush holders between them. Brush elements are slidably disposed within the brush holders of the housing, and brush springs are disposed for biasing the brush elements radially inwards to establish a pressure contact with the commutator segments of the dynamoelectric machine. In order to hold the cover and the main body together in an assembled condition, holding elements mountable to the dynamoelectric machine while maintaining the assembled condition of the cover and the housing main body are provided.

A starting motor comprising an epicycle reduction gear, a sun gear installed at the end of the rotary shaft of a driving motor, a plurality of planet gears engaging with the sun gear, a flange for supporting the planet gears, and an internal gear having cylindrical means including an output shaft driven by the revolution of the planet gears and a gear formed on the inner peripheral face thereof, the gear engaging with the planet gears, and a side plate extended from the cylindrical means in the diametric direction and positioned opposite to the flange, a pinion capable of sliding on the output shaft, a bearing surface being formed on either the flange or side plate to allow the opposite contact to slide thereon and a recess filled with grease being provided in the bearing surface.

A starter with a gear reduction mechanism including an internal ring gear formed of synthetic resin and a reinforcing member. The internal ring gear has a cylindrical portion and a toothed portion formed on an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion. The reinforcing member is secured around an outer surface of the cylindrical portion.

Starter with a gear reduction mechanism

A planetary gear starter with a molded synthetic resin ring gear supported by a frame is disclosed. The ring gear has longitudinally-extending ribs formed in its outer surface which confront longitudinally-extending inward projections formed in the inner surface of the frame. A cylindrical elastic member has an annular portion which is press fit over the ring gear and longitudinally-extending projections which fit into the cavities formed between adjacent ribs and inward projections in the frame. The projections of the elastic member serve as shock absorbers and elastically transmit torque from the ring gear to the frame. The elastic member has an annular portion which reinforces the open end of the ring gear.
