A solder ball according to the present invention contains 0.2 to 2.2% by mass of Zn, and a balance of Sn, and has a spherical diameter of 0.1 to 120 &#x3bc;m and a yellowness (b*) in an L*a*b* color system of 2.70 or more and 9.52 or less. An oxide film is formed by performing aging treatment. By producing a solder ball having a yellowness of 2.70 or more and 9.52 or less, it is possible to suppress the growth of a CuSn layer and/or a Cu&#x2014;Zn(&#x2014;Sn) layer during joining.

Solder transfer sheet, solder bump, and solder precoating method using solder transfer sheet

When soldering a package having an electrode on which Ni/Au or Ag&#x2014;Pd alloy is plated, to a printed circuit board having a Cu electrode or an electrode on which Cu is plated, a solid-phase diffusion layer is formed within a layered solder material for bonding different species of electrodes. The layered solder material is composed of a solder material of Sn&#x2014;Ag&#x2014;Cu series or Sn&#x2014;Sb series and a solder material of Sn&#x2014;Ag&#x2014;Cu&#x2014;Ni series or Sn&#x2014;Pb series. The electrode on which Ni/Au or Ag&#x2014;Pd alloy is plated and the Cu electrode or the electrode on which Cu is plated are soldered with the solder material of Sn&#x2014;Ag&#x2014;Cu series or Sn&#x2014;Sb series being attached to the Cu electrode and the solder material of Sn&#x2014;Ag&#x2014;Cu&#x2014;Ni series or Sn&#x2014;Cu series being attached to the electrode on which Ni/Au or Ag&#x2014;Pd alloy is plated. This restrains formation of intermetallic compounds and provides high bonding reliability.

Layered solder material for bonding different species of electrodes and method of bonding the different species of electrodes in an electronic component

A lip-type seal shaft seal device equipped with a lip seal for sealing a rotary member and a stationary member concentrically disposed to the inside and outside in a radial direction, has a plurality of aeration-creating parts for creating aeration through relative rotational sliding of the lip seal and the rotary member, formed in separated fashion in the circumferential direction on the outside peripheral surface of the rotary member. The aeration-creating parts are configured from a plurality of fine grooves arranged in the circumferential direction, extending along the axial direction of the rotary member. The lip of the lip seal extends towards the outside atmosphere side, leaving a portion of the aeration-creating parts at the sealed fluid side in the axial direction.

Shaft seal device

Flammable fine particles (particulates) consisting principally of carbon and hydrocarbons are discharged from a diesel engine to its exhaust system. A diesel particulate oxidizer (DPO) is disposed in the exhaust passage for collecting and burning the particulates without allowing the particulates to be discharged directly to the atmosphere. This DPO comprises a ceramic foam with catalyst. When the quantity of particulates collected is above a predetermined value, the DPO will undergo clogging. To prevent this, a high temperature gas containing oxygen is fed to the DPO to burn (regenerate) the collected particulates. In order to accelerate the normal regeneration of the DPO, there are provided a regeneration means for making a retard control of the fuel injection timing in the diesel engine, and a regeneration timing control means for controlling the operation of the regeneration means. Further, there is provided a regeneration timing detection means for detecting the regeneration timing of the DPO.

Diesel particulate oxidizer regeneration system

A particulate oxidizer system for a diesel engine comprises a diesel particulate oxidizer (DPO) in the exhaust line to collect and burn particulates in the exhaust. The DPO comprises ceramic foam with a catalyst. When the quantity of particulates in the DPO reaches a predetermined value, high temperature gas containing oxygen is fed to the DPO to burn off (regenerate) the collected particulates. This is achieved by retard control of the injection timing under control of an engine control unit (ECU). A regeneration timing detection means detects the regeneration timing in the DPO. When the quantity of particulates in the DPO falls below a predetermined value, the ECU provides a signal to increase the idling revolution of the engine.
