A method of removing an impurity of the group chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins, chlorinated dibenzofurans, chlorinated hydroxydiphenylethers and chlorinated diphenylethers from a substance containing the same which comprises contacting said substance with an agent which is hydrazine, acetylene, an acetylene derivative or a compound which under the processing conditions is a source of hydrazine or acetylene.

Method of removing chlorinated phenol impurities

An enzyme immobilizate comprising an amorphous siliceous support to which an enzyme is bonded by adsorption via an amino alkoxy silane is regenerated after the enzyme has become inactive by contacting the immobilizate containing the inactive enzyme with a solution of inorganic ammonium sulfate or a solution of primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl or hydroxy alkyl ammonium sulfate to desorb the enzyme and then contacting the support with a fresh enzyme solution to adsorb active enzyme to the support.

Regeneration of an enzyme immobilizate

Immobilizates of acylases (N-acyl-L-amino acid amidohydrolases) are prepared by binding the acylase to a carrier by reacting the acylase with a chemically bound reactive group of a cellulose derivative. The cellulose derivative is prepared by reaction of a hydroxyl group of cellulose with a reagent containing at least two reactive functional groups to provide the reactive group. The reaction of a hydroxyl group of cellulose and reagent is performed by contacting the reagent with cellulose dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide containing polyhydroxymethylene for reaction of the cellulose and reagent to form said derivative.

A process has been invented for the racemization of optically active N-acylamino acids in aqueous solution which comprises treating said optically active N-acylamino acids with ketene.
