A piston for a hydraulic brake configured as a bowl, open on one side, with a longitudinal axis, a wall and a bottom, and is delimited on an open end face by a rim with an axial abutment surface which is movable into abutment on a brake pad. The bottom has an essentially plane outside surface, a wall thickness of the bottom is thicker than a minimum wall thickness of the wall, and at a transition area between bottom and wall, a wall thickness of the wall is continuously increasing towards the bottom, thus, the wall passing over into the bottom in a slope. Furthermore, a method including forming a disc-shaped round blank into a bowl-type hollow cylinder, and upsetting the hollow cylinder in its longitudinal axis so that the bottom material is thickened due to the upsetting operation.

The present invention discloses a brake lining which, in order to reduce and eliminate noises, has a sliding metal sheet in addition to the classical lining parts such as friction lining, lining support plate and damping plate. Further, the damping plate has bores which are filled with grease. The purpose of the grease is, primarily, to lubricate the surface directed to the sliding metal sheet and the damping plate so that both surfaces can slide on each other without friction.

It is frequently important for the piston of a hydraulic piston-and-cylinder assembly, in particular the brake piston of a disc brake, which is slidably arranged within a cylinder bore to ensure a true-to-size mounting position of the piston inside the cylinder bore. Especially in the case of brake pistons of a disc brake, this determines the efficiency of provisions on the brake piston for reducing the occurrence of brake noises. According to the present invention, a key-type accommodation is provided on the piston which permits engagement by a matingly configured mounting means or mounting tool and, thus, renders possible the defined positioning of the piston within a cylinder bore.

A resilient guide for the brake housing of a floating caliper spot-type disc brake for automotive vehicles in which the brake carrier is integrated into the steering knuckle. A resilient spring for a brake housing (1) of a floating caliper spot-type disc brake with a brake carrier integrated into the steering knuckle is provided.The spring arrangement comprises at least one spring (2, 7) secured to the brake housing (1) at predetermined points (A, B). The spring (2, 7) in its unloaded condition, is premounted on brake housing (1) and after assembly of the brake housing (1) is loaded on the manufacturing belt to preload the brake housing (1) against the brake carrier arms (6). Loading of the spring (2) is effected such that the center is moved toward the wheel axle, and is fixed to projections (4) of the brake housing (1) and is then supported, with extensions (5), to arms (6) of the brake carrier. The entire mounting operation advantageously can be performed by an industrial robot.

Resilient guide for the brake housing of a floating caliper spot-type

A protective cap (11) for a bolt guide of a spot-type disc brake, comprises an elastic (pleated) bellows, one end portion of which is fastened to the periphery of a first cylindrical part, while the other end portion thereof is secured to the periphery of a second cylindrical part. A rigid reinforcing and retaining member (15, 16) is provided on each one of said end portions (12, 13) with both reinforcing and retaining members being arranged with at least part of their radial extension on the same radius. To avoid damage to the cylindrical part and the guide surface thereof, at least one (16) of the reinforcing and retaining members is secured radially outwards at the corresponding end portion of the elastic bellows. Thus, an axially extending annular surface is formed which is free from the material of the elastic bellows and wherein the reinforcing and retaining members (16) together with this annular surface is arranged in press fit in a corresponding bore (20) of the associated cylindrical part.

A sealing cap for mating to cylindrical parts such as the bolt guide of a spot-type disk brake. The cap includes a resilient boot one end portion of which is adapted to be secured circumferentially to a first cylindrical part and the other end portion of which is adapted to be secured circumferentially to a second cylindrical part. In order that the sealing cap may be easily mounted and secured with no adverse effects, the other end portion may comprise a rigid insert member.
