The marketplace system may include a real-time bidding (RTB) adapter through which digital advertising buyers may place bids for such inventory units using standard protocols utilized in digital RTB systems.

The advertisement platform server system may include an advertiser facing interface which permits advertisers to generate a request for orders (RFO) for an advertisement campaign which spans multiple advertisement channels. The RFO may be automatically provided to numerous media content providers, which may place committed orders which are to be autonomously accepted upon satisfaction of at least one condition of the RFO, such as a minimum budget. Once the committed orders are accepted, the advertisements may be routed to a traffic management system for publishing.

A user friendly visual programming system with a visual programming interface that allows a user to visually create multimedia programs in real-time. In this system, input and output functions are represented as graphical input and receive interface leads, respectively. A user with no programming skill easily links desired transmit interface leads to desired receive interface leads. In real-time, the output devices perform the functions associated with receive interface leads and any changes to the receive interface leads that occur as a result of any links to transmit interface leads. The user may create complex programs by encapsulating input and receive interface leads in an endless number encapsulation layers.

Real-time multimedia visual programming system

An on-line electronic commerce transaction for facilitating purchase of digital products (softgoods) after enabling a user to preview the softgoods. Creators of the softgoods enter into an agreement with an e-commerce agency in which the agency agrees to handle sales of the softgoods and to return a portion of the revenue to the creators. Creators are provided with a softgood authoring tool that automates the softgood creation process. Before the softgoods are distributed, a unique identifier is included in the softgood by this authoring tool. To play a softgood, a prospective purchaser downloads or otherwise acquires a player program. The player program enables a prospective purchaser a limited preview of each softgood. If a user decides to purchase a softgood, the player program communicates with the e-commerce agency over the Internet to facilitate the purchase transaction. During this transaction, the prospective purchaser is prompted to enter a financial account number. The player program encrypts this account number and other data transmitted to the e-commerce server, unless the prospective purchaser's credit card information and other personal data are already stored in a database maintained by the e-commerce server. The validity of the credit transaction is confirmed with an appropriate approval agency, and if approved, a registration value is provided to the player program for use in registering the softgood on the user's computer. If the softgood has not been purchased and registered on the user's computer, it will not be played by the player program beyond the permitted preview.

Generating revenue for the use of softgoods that are freely distributed over a network

The graphical control system of the present invention includes a computer (20), a device interface (35) for a non-computer system device (21) having at least one feature control (29a) (or display (29b)), a bus network (28) connecting the computer (20) to the device interface (35), and a visual network operating system (78) based on an object-oriented programming paradigm. The device interface (35) connects the non-computer system device (21) to the bus network (28) and provides the mechanism for converting computer-generated commands into signals for controlling the operation of the feature control (29a) of the non-computer system device (21). The visual network operating system (78) is a distributed operating system that is partially stored on the computer (20) and partially stored in the device interface (35). A computer portion causes the computer (20) to generate or create a visual device control (40) that graphically replicates the feature control (29a) normally associated with the non-computer system device (21). The visual device control (40) is operated by a conventional graphical control device, such as a mouse (32), track ball, touch screen, joystick, etc. As the replicated controls are operated, the computer (20) sends messages to the device interfaces (35), which cause the feature control (29a) of the non-computer system device (21) to respond in the same way it would have responded had the feature control been operated manually, electrically or effected by another computer on the bus network (28).
