Improved Zn-Ni-alloy-electroplated steel sheet can be prepared by electroplating steel sheet with an acid electroplating bath containing Zn ions, Ni ions and a small amount of titanium ions, preferably after pre-electroplating with an electroplating bath containing Zn ions and a larger amount of Ni ions and heating the plating sheet in the presence of water.

Process for preparing improved Zn-Ni-alloy electroplated steel sheets

An internal sizing agent for paper making which produces excellent sizing effect and which can be used in neutral to alkaline regions without the ordinarily employed fixing agent such as aluminum sulfate. The sizing agent contains a specific reaction product and/or hydrogenation product of said reaction product, said reaction product being prepared by adding maleic anhydride to branched internal olefins having 14 to 36 carbon atoms which branched internal olefins are obtained by oligomerizing one member or a mixture of two or more of olefins having 6 to 18 carbon atoms.

Method of sizing paper

A self-emulsifying sizing composition comprising at least one substituted succinic anhydride, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of an acetylated polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester and a polyoxyethylene compound as a dispersing agent. The composition can simultaneously satisfy the dispersibility in water, the storage stability and the sizing effect, and is suitable for use in neutral paper making.

Self-emulsifying sizing composition

The adhesion of a corrosion resisting Zn-Ni-alloy plated layer on a steel sheet is improved by pre-plating the steel substrate with a Zn-Ni layer containing Ni in an amount higher than said Zn-Ni-alloy plated layer.
