Disposable, pre-sterilized, and pre-calibrated, pre-validated sensor components are provided. The sensor components interact with a sensor system having disposable fluid conduit or bioreactor bag and a reusable sensor assembly. The components can include an optical bench or inset optical component or module designed to be integrated within the disposable fluid conduit or bioreactor bag, which provides an optical light path through the conduit or bag. The sensors systems are designed to store sensor-specific information, such as calibration and production information, in a non-volatile memory chip on the disposable fluid conduit or bag and on the reusable sensor assembly. Methods for calibrating the sensor and for determining a target property of an unknown fluid are also disclosed. The devices, systems and methods relating to the sensor are suitable for and can be outfitted for turbidity sensing.

Optical sensors for monitoring biopharmaceutical solutions in single-use containers

Presteralized manifolds having disposable multifunctional sensors are provided which are designed for sterile packaging and single-use approaches. These manifolds, which have disposable tubing and flexible-wall containers and are adapted to interact with other equipment which can be operated by a controller and a flow-imparting unit, provide automated and accurate delivery or purification of biotechnology fluid. The disposable sensor monitors pH, oxygen and electrical conductivity, alone or in combination, that interact with the controller or are connected to a separate user interface. Disposable sensor components and re-usable components can be dockable with each other.

Single-use sensors in bioreactors, biotech purification and bioprocessing

An optical chemical test system and method detects information from areas of a chemical test component in the field of view of a color camera. The chemical test component can be a card or a strip and has a color change test area that changes in appearance when subjected to a target chemical in solution, which changes are detected by the color camera and used by an electronic control device to calculate a concentration value for the target chemical. Other areas of the chemical test component, when provided, calibrate the concentration value by providing further data that is recognized by the color camera and used by the electronic control device for calibration. The chemical test component can include features such as one or more indicia or locations for optical coding, card or strip identifiers and authenticators, one or more reference color areas and one or more reference white areas. Also, a color changing indicator can be provided for liquid temperature monitoring and determining whether or not a sample falls within an acceptable temperature range and/or for adjusting the displayed concentration to compensate for color shifts caused by variation in the fluid temperature. A housing system, when provided, facilitates use of controlled illumination in place of ambient illumination. The system and method are suitable for incorporation into a dishwashing machine for sanitation monitoring.

Optical chemical test systems and methods

Single-use, pre-sterilized, and pre-calibrated, pre-validated sensors are provided. These sensors are designed to store sensor-specific information, such as calibration and production information, in a non-volatile memory chip on the sensor or in a barcode printed on the sensor. These sensors may be utilized with in-line systems, closed fluid circuits, bioprocessing systems, or systems which require an aseptic environment while avoiding or reducing cleaning procedures and quality assurance variances. The sensors exhibit both their primary sensing function such as conductivity, pH level, dissolved oxygen, pressure or temperature, as well as at least one secondary sensing function of risk management or risk mitigation.

These manifolds interact with valves and pumping equipment which can be operated by a controller which provides automated and accurate delivery of biotechnology fluid. The manifold also being used in conjunction with one or more conductivity sensors used to measure the conductivity of the biotechnology fluid. Such sensors interact with the controller or are connected to a separate user interface. The combination of disposable tubing, flexible-wall containers, aseptic connectors, manifold, controller, and conductivity sensors provides an aseptic environment while avoiding or reducing cleaning and quality assurance procedures.

An apparatus dispenses detergent into a warewasher from a reservoir wherein a flow control device controls the flow of the detergent. A sensor measures the electrical conductivity of water within the warewasher and produces a conductivity measurement. A controller operates the flow control device in a first mode in which the quantity of detergent dispensed into the warewasher is determined in response to the electrical conductivity of the water. If the conductivity measurement is determined to be unreliable, the controller operates in a second mode in which a predefined quantity of detergent is dispensed into the warewasher. The reliability of the conductivity measurement is determined based on the amount that the conductivity changes upon detergent being added to the warewasher.

Automatic detergent dispensing system for a warewasher

An apparatus periodically measures the carbon dioxide content of the breath of a medical patient. The need to recalibrate the apparatus is determined by comparing the carbon dioxide measurements taken at different times during the respiratory cycle to corresponding reference levels. These levels often occur when the apparatus no longer is measuring accurately. When recalibration is indicated the apparatus waits until the patient begins inhaling so that the recalibration does not interfere with measuring the carbon dioxide during exhalation. The apparatus then measures the carbon dioxide content of the ambient air to define an offset value used in patient monitoring.
