The present invention provides a PDP structure including a first substrate, a second substrate and a Waffle barrier rib structure located between the first and second substrate. The Waffle barrier rib structure includes three first barrier ribs having different width and a plurality of second barrier ribs perpendicular to the first barrier ribs. The second barrier ribs are located between the two first barrier ribs, and connect the wider structure of the two first barrier ribs. Therefore, discharge spaces are formed. Because of different width, the height difference of the barrier rib structure is formed after thermal process. Hence, gas can pass through the barrier ribs structure between the front and the back substrate sealed together.

Method of manufacturing barrier ribs for a plasma display panel

A plasma display panel and method are provided. The method includes that a first substrate is provided and elongated electrodes are formed on the first substrate. Then, an overcoat layer is formed on the elongated electrodes and the first substrate. Next, by means of screen print, a shaped layer is formed on the overcoat layer. Screen print is applied again to form bumps on the shaped layer. A second substrate is also provided. The second substrate is extended paralleled with the first substrate so as to define a discharge space between the substrates after combining the two substrates. Bumps are provided between the first and second stripe ribs so as to define passages to let air can flow in the discharge space. By the mentioned processes, bumps are provided between the first and second stripe ribs so as to define passages for drawing air. The process is simple for alignment.

Plasma display panel having bumps on barrier ribs

The present invention provides a PDP structure comprising a first substrate, a second substrate and a Waffle barrier rib structure located between the first and second substrate. The Waffle barrier rib structure comprises three first barrier ribs having different width and a plurality of second barrier ribs perpendicular to the first barrier ribs. The second barrier ribs are located between the two first barrier ribs, and connect the wider structure of the two first barrier ribs. Therefore, discharge spaces are formed. Because of different width, the height difference of the barrier rib structure is formed after thermal process. Hence, gas can pass through the barrier ribs structure between the front and the back substrate sealed together.

Plasma display panel and the manufacturing method thereof

A method of forming barrier ribs used in plasma display panels (PDP) is provided. The barrier ribs are formed on a substrate, and the substrate includes a dielectric layer and a rib material layer formed on the dielectric layer. First, a first bottom pattern layer, a second bottom pattern layer and a third bottom pattern layer are formed on the rib material layer. These bottom pattern layers have the same width and are spaced apart to each other with the same distance. Second, a first middle pattern layer, a second middle pattern layer, and a third middle pattern layer are respectively formed above the first bottom pattern layer, the second bottom pattern layer, and the third bottom pattern layer. The left sidewalls of the first middle pattern layer and the first bottom pattern layer are aligned, the right sidewalls of the second middle pattern layer and the second bottom pattern layer are aligned, and the two sidewalls of the third middle pattern layer and the third bottom pattern layer are respectively aligned. Then, a first top pattern layer, and a second top pattern layer are respectively formed above the first middle pattern layer and the third middle pattern layer. The left sidewall of the first top pattern layer and the first middle pattern layer is aligned, and the right sidewall of the second top pattern layer and the third middle pattern layer is aligned. Next, a sandblasting process is performed by using the bottom pattern layers, the middle pattern layers, and the top pattern layers as a mask, parts of the rib material layer is removed to exposed parts of the dielectric layer. Finally, the barrier ribs are completed formed by removing the bottom pattern layers, the middle pattern layers, and the top pattern layers.

Method of forming barrier ribs used in a plasma display panel

A method for fabricating a rib on a glass substrate includes steps of printing a first paste layer on the glass substrate, printing a second paste layer onto a first predetermined area of the first paste layer and the second paste layer having a hardener, activating the hardener of the second paste layer to harden the second paste layer, performing a stripping process to remove a portion of the first paste layer uncovered by the hardened second paste layer, and sintering the remaining first paste layer and the second paste layer to form the ribs. The first paste layer is formed by a solid printing process and the second paste layer is formed by a screen printing process. The second paste layer is a rib material having a photo-active hardener, such as polyvinyl cinnamate. The hardener of the second paste layer is activated by an exposure process. Finally, the hardener is removed from the second paste layer in the sintering process and the first paste layer is fused to the second paste layer. and the ribs are formed.
