Apparatus and methods are provided for sidelink relay-based UE-to-network communication. The disclosure describes the relay UE performing delayed relay forwarding upon determining the remote UE is in the DRX cycle based on the PC5 configuration. The relay UE buffers the relay traffic and/or sends a suspending indication to the base station to request the base station to suspend the relay traffic to the remote UE. The disclosure describes the relay UE monitoring paging occasions configured for itself and receives paging message from the network intended for the remote UE in one non-connected RRC state. The relay UE sends a PC5 paging message to the remote UE that is in the non-connected RRC state through the established SL based on the received paging message. The disclosure describes the network storing the SL association between the relay UE and the remote UE to the network.

Methods and apparatus of sidelink relay based data communication

Methods and apparatus are provided for UE-triggered handover and early preparation with coexistence of the network-triggered handover. In one novel aspect, the UE is configured early measurement report configuration, receives an early handover command from the serving base station with a handover candidate cell list, monitors handover triggering conditions for each candidate cell on the handover candidate cell list based on a UE-triggered handover configuration and performs the UE-triggered handover to a candidate cell when the corresponding triggering condition is met for the candidate cell. In one embodiment, the UE receives a network-triggered handover command to a target cell, suspends the UE-triggered handover configuration and performs the network-triggered handover to the target cell. The UE discards the UE-triggered handover configuration upon success of the network-triggered handover and resumes the UE-triggered handover configuration upon failure of the network-triggered handover.

User equipment (UE)-triggered handover with early preparation in mobile networks

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first service network utilizing a first RAT or a second service network utilizing a second RAT. The controller sends an indicator of a connection release request to the first service network via the wireless transceiver in response to terminating a first communication service with the first service network or in response to leaving the first service network for the second service network. Also, the controller releases a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the first service network after sending the indicator of the connection release request.

Apparatuses and methods for multi-radio access technology (RAT) coordination

A method for expediting Secondary Cell (SCell) or Primary cell of a secondary cell group (PSCell) addition or activation is proposed. A User Equipment (UE) receives a command that indicates adding or activating an SCell or a PSCell, wherein the command comprises information of a temporary Reference Signal (RS). The UE detects the temporary RS according to the information, and uses the temporary RS to add or activate the SCell or the PSCell.

Enhancement to expedite secondary cell (SCell) or primary SCell (PSCell) addition or activation

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first cellular station and a second cellular station. The controller continues to send or receive UP data to or from the first cellular station via the wireless transceiver after receiving a handover command message for a handover of the UE from the first cellular station to the second cellular station, and receives a Radio Resource Control (RRC) request message from the second cellular station via the wireless transceiver after sending a handover complete message to the second cellular station. Also, the controller detaches from the first cellular station in response to receiving the RRC request message.

Enhanced handover methods and apparatuses using the same

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first base station. The controller is coupled to the wireless transceiver, and configured to receive an RRC reconfiguration message from the first base station via the wireless transceiver, and in response to the UE being configured to provide measurement gap requirement information of NR target bands, send an RRC reconfiguration complete message including the measurement gap requirement information to the first base station via the wireless transceiver.

Apparatuses and methods for user equipment (UE) to report new radio (NR) measurement gap requirement information

Apparatus and methods are provided to reduce mobility interruption time through dual-protocol stacks for mobility enhancement. In novel aspect, the UE configures a target protocol stack for a target gNB upon receiving a reconfiguration message from a source gNB, performs random access procedure and establishes RRC connection with the target gNB through the target protocol stack while simultaneously maintaining data transmission and reception with the source gNB, and releases the source RRC connection with the source gNB and performs data transmission and reception with the target gNB upon detecting one or more predefined release triggering event. In one embodiment, the target protocol stack includes a PHY layer, a MAC layer, and RLC layer, a PDCP and optionally a SDAP. In one embodiment, the UE enables a PDCP reordering, wherein the PDCP reordering is performed on PDCP packet data units received from the source and the target protocol stacks.

Dual-protocol for mobility enhancement

Aspects of the disclosure further provide an apparatus and various methods for wireless communications. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that can receive, from a first based station (BS), a first radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message including a conditional primary secondary cell (PSCell) addition command that indicates one or more candidate PSCells of a second BS. The processing circuitry can transmit, to the first BS, an RRC reconfiguration complete message that indicates completion of the conditional PSCell addition command. The processing circuitry can perform a conditional PSCell addition procedure to add a candidate target PSCell that is one of the one or more candidate PSCells of the second BS according to the conditional PSCell addition command.

Methods and apparatus to improve MR-DC SN addition procedure

Aspects of the disclosure can provide a method and an apparatus for Cell Global Identifier (CGI) reading in a New Radio (NR) system. The method can include receiving a request over a serving cell to report Cell Global Identifier (CGI) information of a target cell to a network node, and decoding system information to acquire the CGI information of the target cell by using Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) and Remaining Minimum System Information (RMSI) occasions in Discontinuous Reception (DRX) off duration of the serving cell, using at least one autonomous gap in data reception and transmission of the serving cell, or using at least one specific gap to interrupt data reception and transmission in DRX on durations of the serving cell. Subsequently, the CGI information of the target cell can be transmitted to the network node.

Methods and apparatus for CGI reading in NR system

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first service network and a second service network. The controller receives a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message comprising a measurement configuration for SFN (System Frame Number) and Frame Timing Difference (SFTD) from the first service network via the wireless transceiver, performs first SFTD measurements between a Primary Cell (PCell) of the first service network and neighbor cells of the second service network via the wireless transceiver in response to the measurement configuration for SFTD indicating the neighbor cells, and sends a result of the first SFTD measurements to the first service network via the wireless transceiver.

Apparatuses and methods for extending use of SFN (system frame number) and frame timing difference (SFTD) measurements

A method to speed up uplink data access during a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration procedure is proposed. UE first sends an RRC request, and in response receives an RRC reconfiguration message from BS. UE then decodes the RRC reconfiguration message and performs reconfiguration. UE also waits for UL grant for transmitting RRC reconfiguration complete with UL data if available. In one embodiment, BS provides the UL grant in a common search space while UE is performing the reconfiguration, and UE does not need to wait the UL grant until after the reconfiguration is done. In other words, the reconfiguration and the UL grant occurs in parallel, which reduces access delay for UL data. In an alternative embodiment, BS provides UL grant in RRC reconfiguration message, so that UE does not have to receive UL grant while performing the reconfiguration.

Method to reduce access delay

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a cell. The controller receives first barring information and second barring information from the cell via the wireless transceiver, and ignores the first barring information in response to the UE supporting network-based Cell-specific Reference Signal (CRS) interference mitigation. Also, the controller allows the UE to access the cell in response to the UE supporting network-based CRS interference mitigation and the second barring information indicating that the cell is not barred.

User equipments (UES), cellular stations, and access control methods thereof

A mobile communication device including a Baseband processor is provided. The Baseband processor is configured to determine whether the mobile communication device is operating in an idle mode or a connected mode with a first service network in response to starting a Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB) call, search for a cell of a second service network on a frequency, on which the mobile communication device has previously made another CSFB call successfully from the first service network, when the mobile communication device is operating in the idle mode with the serving cell, and make the CSFB call on the cell.
