A power amplifier of an envelope tracking system is configured to generate an output power with a variable supply voltage that is generated in an envelope tracking path. A signal generation/processing path receives an input signal and processes the input signal to the power amplifier in a main signal processing path. A delay component is configured to generate a delay to the envelope tracking path with respect to the signal generation path. A feedback path is configured to generate a feedback signal from the output of the power amplifier and adjust the delay component or the delay of the delay component during an active transmission or an active transmission mode.

Envelope tracking path delay fine tuning and calibration

An envelope tracking system and a method for adjusting a nonlinear transfer function of an envelope tracking power supply for a power amplifier are provided. An output signal of the power amplifier is provided to a feedback receiver for determining an actual performance of the envelope tracking power amplifier. An assumed performance of the envelope tracking power amplifier is determined by evaluating the non-linear transfer function at a value defined by an input signal for a transmitter including the power amplifier. A difference between the assumed performance and the actual performance provides a correctional value for the nonlinear transfer function.

A method for calibrating a supply voltage of an envelope tracking PA (power amplifier) is provided. The method includes obtaining a plurality of calibrated PA supply voltage values using a PA output power sequence having a plurality of different PA output power values. Thereby, an order of the PA output power values of the PA output power sequence is chosen such that a junction temperature of the PA is maintained during calibration within a temperature range that occurs during non-calibration envelope tracking operation.

Device for processing signals in a mobile station

Harmonic interference caused by limit cycles occurs in the resultant signals of filters for noise conversion as a consequence of limit cycles. A feedback loop is connected downstream of the actual filter and is used to effectively suppress the limit cycles. A feedback signal ythat is added to the output signal of the filter block is generated in the feedback loop. The invention can be implemented using both analog and digital technology.
