A method for purifying glycine characterized by comprising the steps of adjusting the pH of an aqueous glycine solution to 6 or less with a mineral acid and/or an organic acid or an acidic cation exchange resin and subsequently decoloring said aqueous glycine solution by active carbon treatment.

A process for preparing glycine which comprises the steps of reacting glycolonitrile, carbon dioxide gas, ammonia and water to obtain a reaction solution containing glycine, concentrating this reaction solution in two steps, recycling a gaseous phase portion formed in a primary concentration step to a reaction zone, and recycling to the reaction zone, a mother liquor left after glycine crystals have been separated from a concentrate obtained in a secondary concentration step.

A method for preparing high-purity aluminum nitride having high thermal conductivity and heat resistance for aluminum nitride substrates, which comprises the steps of reacting an organic aluminum compound with an aminotriazine in a solvent to obtain an aluminum nitride precursor, separating the precursor form the solvent, and heating the precursor at a temperature of 600.degree. A method for preparing high-purity aluminum nitride having high thermal conductivity and heat resistance for aluminum nitride substrates, which comprises the steps of reacting an organic aluminum compound with an aminotriazine in a solvent to obtain an aluminum nitride precursor, separating the precursor from the solvent, and heating the precursor at a temperature of 600.degree. A process for the liquid phase oxidation of an organic substance-containing effluent which comprises subjecting said effluent to a liquid phase oxidation treatment in the presence of a copper catalyst at a copper ion concentration of 50-5000 ppm and also in presence of an ammonium ion concentration of five or more times the copper ion concentration thereby to oxidize the organic substances in the effluent, and recovering the copper catalyst from the treated effluent for reuse. The recovery of the copper catalyst may be effected either by a process in which the copper catalyst is separated as a precipitate or by a process using a resin adsorption.
