A heat-shrinkable envelope of at least one shrinkable surface layer and a reinforcing insert has the reinforcing insert formed of a grid of plastic, and the grid is shrinkable in the shrink direction of the shrinkable layer.

Heat-shrinkable envelope

A shrinkable composite section is formed from a shrinkable composite foil composed of at least two shrinkable planar foils adhering firmly to one another. Each of the two shrinkable foils has a shrink direction proceeding at a suitable offset angle relative to the shrink direction of the other individual planar foil so that the resulting overall shrink direction occurring for the composite foil extends between the shrink directions of the two individual foils. The tendency toward tearing or, respectively, continued tearing of the shrinkable composite foil section is, thus, diminished.

Heat-shrinkable composite foil

A heat-shrinkable envelope of crosslinked polymeric plastic material is composed of regions having different amounts of shrinkability which regions are disposed uniformly over the entire area of the envelope. The difference in the regions of shrinkability can be obtained by different amounts of crosslinking, by different geometric shapes for the two regions or a combination of both. The regions can be arranged in sandwich-like layers or can be arranged in alternately-arranged, parallel-extending bands. The regions having the lower shrinkability resist tearing and continued tearing of the regions with the high shrinkability and the region with the high shrinkability insure a proper shrinking of the envelope onto the article or material being surrounded thereby.

Heat-shrinkable envelope having low-tearing susceptibility

A heat-shrinkable envelope that is composed of a shrinkable component and a reinforcing component having a metallic matrix. The strength is increased on the basis of the metallic matrix and the ability to tear or, respectively, to continue to tear is considerably reduced. In addition, the metallic matrix forms an electrical and/or magnetic shield for components wrapped in the envelope.

A heat-shrinkable sleeve consisting of at least one heat-shrinkable component and a mechanical reinforcing component secured thereto, characterized by the reinforcing component being permanently secured to the heat-shrinkable component after completion of the heat-shrinking process. The mechanical reinforcing component, preferably, consists of a carrier foil on which mechanical reinforcing elements are arranged and the reinforcing elements are preferably arranged to extend in two directions so that tearing of the sleeve is extremely limited.
