Today in Patent History

On May 28, 1872, C. F. Theodor Steinway received a patent for a significant improvement to piano-fortes. His innovation involved the use of a dome-shaped metal frame and a curved sounding board bridge, enabling all the strings to be supported by a single bridge. This design not only reduced the overall size of the piano but also enhanced its performance.

Featured Inventor

Did you Know?

Suze Orman, the financial guru known for securing our financial futures, took her obsession with protection to the next level in 2006 with her patent for the “Ultimate Protection Portfolio.” This isn’t just any mundane folder; it’s a waterproof, portable storage container to safeguard your precious financial and legal documents.

This innovation is less about cash flow and more about keeping your assets dry and secure. Imagine Suze, ever the stickler for security, crafting a storage solution that not only holds your wills, deeds, and stock certificates but also includes compartments for computer-readable mediums and electronic signaling devices. It’s as if James Bond asked Q for a way to organize his financial statements and protect his gadget blueprints from a villainous splash.

So, the next time you see Suze extolling the virtues of diversified portfolios and emergency funds, remember that she’s got your back (and your documents) covered — even when it rains. And while she might not be diving into actual liquid assets, her “Ultimate Protection Portfolio” ensures that come hell or high water, your financial security is watertight.
