Christof Pflumm was born in Schramberg, Germany, in 1973. He received Dipl.-Phys. and Ph.D. degrees from the Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
Between 2003 to 2005, he worked on the modelling of organic injection lasers at TH. After, he held a postdoctoral position at Imperial College London where he investigated optically excited organic semiconductor lasers with novel resonator configurations. He also extended his work on device modelling to OLEDs and LECs during this time.
Since 2006, he is with Merck Organic Lighting Technologies, Mainz, Germany, where his main focus is the device physics of white OLEDs for lighting applications.
Patent №: 11611046 (Mar. 21, 2023) – The invention relates to organic electroluminescent devices with an emitting layer containing a blend of luminescent and fluorescent materials. Luminescent material has a narrow singlet-triplet gap, and fluorescent emission material has high steric shielding.
Patent №: 11610885 (Mar. 21, 2023) – Semiconductor structure formed by: Fin structure formed over the substrate, gate structure formed across fin, dopant source layer deposited over the gate, dopants driven into fin, layer removed, dopants annealed to form doped region, doped region and fin etched to form recess, source/drain feature grown in recess.
Dr. Anil Kumar is an associate fellow in the Optical Division at PPG and the latest recipient of ACS’s Award for Creative Invention for his contributions to photochromism and variable polarization and leadership in commercialization.
Kumar grew up in New Delhi and earned a BS and MS from Delhi University. He later transferred to the University of Connecticut, earning a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.
After earning his doctorate degree, he went to work developing photochromic lenses for PPG Industries, which owns Transitions Optical in partnership with Essilor.
Patent №: 11609442 (Mar. 21, 2023) – System and method for customizing a photochromic article using a container with an actinic radiation source, a deactivation radiation source, and inserting the article into the container to activate its non-thermally reversible photochromic material.
