Patent №: 11707632 (July 25, 2023) – Wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system reacting to high-amplitude ECG noise.

In this system, a wearable WCD (Wearable Cardioverter-Defibrillator) is used by an ambulatory patient. The WCD continuously analyzes the patient’s ECG signal to determine if an electric shock is needed to restart the heart. Before delivering the shock, the system gives a preliminary alarm to the patient, asking them to respond if they are conscious. Additionally, the system checks for High Amplitude (H-A) noise in the ECG signal, which can affect the analysis. If excessive H-A noise is detected for an extended period, the system alerts the patient about their activity to reduce the noise. It may even pause the ECG signal analysis until the noise is reduced, preventing false alarms.

Kenneth A Feldmann

Professor at The University of Arizona.

Patent №: 11708582 (July 25, 2023) –Nucleotide sequences and polypeptides encoded thereby useful for modifying plant characteristics.

Isolated polynucleotides and polypeptides encoded thereby are described, together with the use of those products for making transgenic plants with increased tolerance to abiotic stress (e.g., high or low temperature, drought, flood).

Zhengang Chen

Mr. Chen received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronics engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, AB, Canada.

He is currently with Marvell Semiconductor, Inc., Santa Clara, CA. His research interests include error control coding, signal processing, communication and storage systems and integrated circuit design. Dr. Chen was co-recipient of a best student paper award at the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems 2008.

Patent №: 11709771 (July 25, 2023) – Self-seeded randomizer for data randomization in flash memory.

Takuya Nakabayashi

Patent №: 11709312 (July 25, 2023) –Planar light source including light adjustment members.

a schematic top view illustrating a planar light source according to a first embodiment.

The planar light source consists of a light guide member, a light source with a light-emitting element and a first light adjustment member in the first hole of the light guide member. A first light-transmissive member is between the light source and the light guide member, with a second light adjustment member on top. The first light-transmissive member has higher transmittance than the first and second light-adjustment members for the emitted light. It is divided into two portions: one between the first and second light adjustment members, and another between the light source and the light guide member.

Sung Hoon Kim

Mr. Kim received his B.S., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in electronics engineering from Kookmin University in Seoul, KOREA in 1994, 1996 and 2008, respectively.

Since 2000, he has been a Principal Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in Korea.

His research interests are digital signal processing in the fields of Terrestrial & Mobile DTV, 3DTV, VR and UHDTV broadcasting systems

Patent №: 11708301 (July 25, 2023) – Glass article and method for producing the same.

The method for producing a glass article involves preparing a glass with a low-refractive surface layer on the glass bulk. The process includes etching the low-refractive surface layer by cleaning it first with an acid solution and then with a base solution.

Tse-Yao Huang

Program Manager at Nan Ya Technology Corporation.

Patent №: 11710696 (July 25, 2023) –Semiconductor device with programmable unit and method for fabricating the same.

The application discloses a semiconductor device with a programmable unit and its fabrication method. The device comprises a substrate with a bottom conductive layer and two gate structures. The first gate structure includes a first gate dielectric layer, a first work function layer, and a first filler layer. The second gate structure includes a second gate dielectric layer, a second work function layer, and a second filler layer. Additionally, the device has a conductive plug connected to the bottom conductive layer and a top conductive layer connected to both gate structures.
