IDiyas Honors The Most Prolific Inventors In Charlotte, North Carolina. At Its First In-Person Event.

On Friday, September 22nd, IDiyas hosted its first in-person gathering to celebrate prolific inventors in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Using utility patent data and AI, IDiyas is uniting the global inventor community.

The event was hosted at InVue, a leader in security solutions for retail that has reinvented itself to take advantage of new market opportunities for over 50 years.

Chris Fawcett, Jeffrey Grant, Carrie Hanson, and Misha Ghosh — the four most prolific inventors in Charlotte, North Carolina — were honored.

Chris Fawcett is an inventor with InVue doing technical and marketing research on long-
term technology platforms and development.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from East Carolina University.

Jeffrey Grant – 92 Utility Patents

Jeffrey Grant is an experienced innovation and design practitioner. He transforms user insight, iterative prototyping, and technology transfer into market demand.

As Director of Innovation at InVue, he is responsible for innovation, technology development, and intellectual property creation for all current and future product categories, spanning Retail, CE Brands, Point of Sale, Access Control, and Data Center Security business units. He has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Product Design from Stanford University.

Carrie Hanson is a patent strategist with Wells Fargo Bank, with experience in innovation, product and channel development, creative problem solving facilitation, relationship building, and marketing.

She has been in financial services for over 20 years, primarily focused on the evolution of digital/mobile banking. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from Michigan State University. She is a Wells Fargo Bank’s 2023 Inventor Hall of Fame inductee.

Misha Ghosh leads the Financial Health Data, Analytics, and Reporting team at Wells Fargo Bank.

He is also the founder of IDiyas, a global platform that facilitates collaboration among inventors and mentors young adults to pursue careers in STEM. The platform aims to build an engaging forum for inventors to vet ideas, trends, and commercialization in a safe, trusted environment.

He has a Master of Science in Statistics from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from San Francisco State University.

IDiyas is promoting an inventor-first focus. Practically speaking, that’s useful for us. We
get to see who the people who are actually coming up with ideas. And as a patent attorney, that’s who we want to actually know. I think it’s a really great community that didn’t exist before, and so we really wanted to promote that.”

Doug Hague, the founding Executive Director for the School of Data Science at UNC Charlotte, was also in attendance as a sponsor.

“The University of North Carolina Charlotte is developing and encouraging and helping the next inventors,” he explained. “Invention can take place everywhere, and our students are learning and ready to be doing that. Thanks for this opportunity; we love to be able to support this community.”

The event included stories that capture the spirit of innovation from InVue CEO Jim Sankey; a tour of InVue’s facilities, including its media studio, R&D studio, and testing lab; a keynote speech by Forbes contributor Madeleine Key; and an awards ceremony.


More than 50 members of the local innovation community joined IDiyas to celebrate and
network, including inventors, entrepreneurs, and high school students interested in
studying STEM.
