Welcome to October 22, 2024. This week, we aim to celebrate the centurion patentors who have reached noteworthy milestones in their fields.
With over 25 years of industry experience, Juan Montojo has held high-impact roles at Qualcomm, a global leader in wireless chipset technology.
His expertise spans research and development, modem implementation, and standardization. Currently, he leads Qualcomm’s 3GPP team responsible for 5G standardization, overseeing the company’s spectrum standards activities and ETSI technical participation.
From November 2011 to August 2015, Juan served as Head of Qualcomm Research Germany before returning to Qualcomm’s San Diego headquarters, where he played a key role in accelerating 5G standards development.
A recognized 5G expert, Juan co-authors Qualcomm’s 5G Book: Fundamentals of 5G Communications: Connectivity for Enhanced Mobile Broadband and Beyond. His expertise extends to LTE and WiFi, having worked extensively on both technologies’ design, standardization, and modem implementation.
Patent №: 12127174 (October 22, 2024) – Facilitating communication based on frequency ranges. This disclosure presents techniques for enabling user equipment (UE), such as a reduced capability UE, to associate TCI states or spatial relations with specific frequency hopping regions. The method involves determining a TCI state or spatial relation while communicating in one frequency range, then applying this information when switching to another frequency range for continued communication.
Patent №: 12127018 (October 22, 2024) – Unified measurement configurations for cross-link interference, self-interference, and wireless sensing. User equipment (UE) receives a measurement configuration tied to a common object or resource pool for cross-link interference (CLI), self-interference (SI), or wireless sensing measurements. The UE performs these measurements based on the configuration and transmits a report with the results.
Patent №: 12126567 (October 22, 2024) – Multiple bit feedback channel. One method involves receiving multiple transmissions from user equipment (UE), determining a resource set for feedback, and transmitting the feedback. Another method includes sending multiple transmissions to a UE and monitoring feedback based on a codebook size.
Founding Lead Machine Learning Engineering at IP Copilot.
Jeremy Goodsitt pioneered the development of a clinically viable non-invasive 3D kinematic visualization technique for spine diagnostics and led the creation of a real-time cross-network UI using WebSocket API for rigid body kinematic analysis across multiple programming languages.
Patent №: 12124844 (October 22, 2024) – Methods and arrangements to process comments. The system compiles code into intermediary code, compares it to a library of snippets linked to comments, and identifies obsolete code. It may also generate recommendations for code updates and modify the code based on feedback.
Johan Rune is an inventor associated with Ericsson who has contributed to several innovations in wireless communication. His work optimizes communication networks, including advancements in downlink radio failure detection, timing advance reporting in non-terrestrial networks, and handover processes for wireless devices.
Johan Rune was The Inventor of the Year at Ericsson in 2018.
Patent №: 12127271 (October 22, 2024) – PUSCH resource selection in 2-step random access. A wireless device receives a two-step RA configuration with two resource allocations for PUSCH transmission of the first message (msgA), each linked to different sets of preambles. The device selects one resource allocation and its associated preamble based on the configuration and payload size then transmits msgA using the selected allocation.
Patent №: 12127270 (October 22, 2024) – Recovery/fallback after unsuccessful 2-step random access attempt. A wireless device triggers a random access (RA) process, selects a first beam based on a two-step RA configuration, ensuring the beam meets a predefined threshold, and performs the RA process using the selected beam.
