Welcome to March 25, 2025. This week, we aim to celebrate the centurion patentors who have reached noteworthy milestones in their fields.
Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm. Qualcomm Fellow. IEEE Fellow. Co-founder of Flarion Technologies. A pioneer of OFDMA.
Patent №: 12262418 – Uplink timing advance estimation from sidelink.
Methods and systems are described where a first UE receives a timing advance value from a second UE and uses it to estimate its own timing advance. The first UE then sends a random access message to the base station using the estimated timing advance.
Patent №: 12262389 – Techniques for indicating a sidelink receiver. A base station sends a grant to a UE for sidelink communication, including a destination ID and resource mapping. If the receiver differs from the default, the grant identifies the new receiver.
Patent №: 12262363 – DCI for common TCI state update. Methods and systems are described where a base station sends a grant to a first UE for sidelink communication, indicating resource allocation and a destination identifier. The identifier is based on information from the first UE. If the receiver differs from the default, the base station specifies the new receiver in the grant.
Patent №: 12262287 – Wireless signaling in federated learning for machine learning components. The disclosure relates to wireless communication, where a base station sends a federated learning configuration to a UE, specifying parameters for a machine learning procedure. The UE then sends a local update to the base station based on this configuration.
Patent №: 12261800 – Non-overlapped cross-link interference reference signal transmission and reception windows. The disclosure involves a central network entity configuring a network node with transmission and reception windows for inter-network node cross-link interference (CLI) measurement, ensuring the transmission windows do not overlap with reception windows.
Patent №: 12261799 – Single frequency network transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state activation. The aspects involve activating TCI states based on a TCI state update list with multiple component carriers. A message includes two TCI states for SFN operation, and the UE activates the states for each carrier based on the serving cell ID and SFN configuration.
Patent №: 12261792 – Group-common reference signal for over-the-air aggregation in federated learning. The network entity configures a group of UEs to simultaneously transmit reference signals and gradient vectors. The entity receives the signals and vectors, then calculates an average gradient vector for federated learning.
Patent №: 12261728 – DMRS with dynamic and controllable PAPR properties. Aspects enable the generation and transmission of MDMRS to match nonlinear model impacts between DMRS and data in both DFT-s-OFDM and CP-OFDM waveforms. The UE transmits MDMRS with a PAPR distribution matching the data signal’s PAPR.
Patent №: 12261672 – Beam failure recovery request for per beam group beam failure recovery. The disclosure relates to wireless communication, where a UE detects beam failure in a first beam group of a cell. Based on uplink resource availability in a second beam group, the UE selectively transmits a beam failure recovery request for the first beam group.
Patent №: 12261669 – Multiple panel assistance information to determine a network configuration. A UE transmits UE assistance information (UAI) to a device, including antenna usage, power consumption, and thermal overhead. This helps the device optimize the network configuration to reduce the UE’s power and thermal impact.
Patent №: 12261668 – Enhanced UE behavior for BFD/BFR in DRX mode. A UE detects a condition during the first DRX ON period before a DRX OFF period and requests an extension of the DRX ON period. The network node approves the request, and both delay the start of the DRX OFF period by a specified time based on the approval.
Patent №: 12261653 – Beam management enhancements in model-based channel tracking. The method involves receiving a model configuration for channel conditions between two network entities and tracking variations in the channel condition for multiple beam pairs across overlapping sessions. Each beam pair includes a transmission and reception beam.
A first device receives a configured grant and transmits a PSCCH or PSSCH to a second device. It then receives a dynamic grant with an index linking to the configured grant and retransmits the same signal using new sidelink resources.
Patent №: 12259489 – Method for determining location of V2X device in wireless communication system supporting sidelink, and apparatus therefor. A method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the position of a V2X device in a wireless system. The device receives signals from two RSUs via two antennas placed at a known distance. It measures the reception time differences for each signal between the antennas and calculates the device’s position based on these time differences.
