Patent №: 12262042 – Encoder, decoder and methods thereof for video encoding and decoding. In one embodiment, an encoder ensures that for each long-term picture in a reference picture set (RPS) of picture i, the flag delta_poc_msb_present_flag[i] is set to 1 if there are at least two reference pictures in the decoded picture buffer with the same least significant bits (LSBs) of the picture order count (POC) as the long-term picture i (POC_lsbLt[i]). When this flag is 1, the full POC is used to indicate the long-term picture.
Senior Systems Architect, Distinguished Member Technical Staff (DMTS) at Texas Instruments.
Patent №: 12262318 – Power aware event scheduling.
A power-aware event scheduling technique includes receiving a scheduled reference event from a wireless access point, estimating data generation time for an application event, using timing info to divide data into frames, calculating an adjusted trigger time, triggering the event accordingly, and transmitting the frames based on the reference event.
Takashi Shibata received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2005 and 2007, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2017.
In 2008, Takashi joined NEC Corporation, Kanagawa, Japan, where he has been a Principal Researcher since 2018.
His research interests include image processing and pattern recognition.
Patent №: 12260330 – Learning apparatus, learning method, inference apparatus, inference method, and recording medium. A learning apparatus includes a metric space learning unit and a case example storage unit. The learning unit generates a metric space from feature vectors extracted from attribute-tagged image sets. The storage unit computes feature vectors from case image data and stores them within the metric space.
