Reinhold Schmieding started Arthrex, an orthopedic surgical tools company, in 1981 in Munich, Germany.

Arthrex is now headquartered in Naples, Florida and has developed over 13,000 products used in shoulder, hip and other orthopedic surgeries.

Privately-held Arthrex has estimated revenues of $3.2 billion; Schmieding owns more than 90% of the company.

Schmieding is the son of German immigrants who moved to the U.S. just before he was born. His father, a dentist, wanted him to be a doctor.

This disclosure describes a surgical system for modifying the dimensions of harvested tissue, such as an autograft, used for repair or reconstruction in a patient’s body. A separate rear ring attaches to the heel and toe, forming a hollow club head with openings for the crown, sole, or face. The cast cup and rear ring can use different materials, and weights or composite inserts may be added. The face may have variable thickness.

Patent №: 12115420 (October 15, 2024) – Golf club head. A golf club head is described with a body featuring an interior cavity, heel, toe, sole at the bottom, and crown at the top. The body has forward and rearward sections, with a non-metallic striking surface at the front.

Mark Evan Cerny

Mr. Cerny is an American video game designer, programmer, producer and media proprietor.

Cerny has since frequently collaborated with Sony Interactive Entertainment as a consultant, including being the lead designer for the hardware of several PlayStation consoles and being called the architect of the PlayStation Vita, PS4 and PS5.

He has also developed several games, notably the arcade game Marble Madness and the Knack series, and is credited with many more for his consulting work.

In 2004, he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Game Developers Association and was inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame in 2010.

Patent №: 12118641 (October 15, 2024) – System and method for efficient multi-GPU rendering of geometry by performing geometry analysis while rendering. A method for graphics processing that involves multiple GPUs working together to render an image frame. During a pre-pass phase, the GPUs generate information about the geometry and its relation to various screen regions. Based on this information, screen regions are assigned to specific GPUs for rendering the geometry in the next phase.

Patent №: 12115447 (October 15, 2024) – Buffer drain rate tuning to a measured maximum receive bandwidth measured for a client device when streaming. A method for cloud gaming that involves generating video frames while running a game on a cloud server. These frames are encoded at a set bit rate and transmitted to a client. The method includes measuring the client’s maximum bandwidth and monitoring the encoding process. Based on this monitoring, the encoder’s parameters are dynamically adjusted to optimize performance.
