Unveiling Trends From 8M+ USPTO Patents Since 1976

When one googles “prolific inventors,” the first link is a Wikipedia page listing the top
100 global inventors.

There is no known list of prolific inventors within world cities until now. In case you are
wondering, there are over 260,000 cities worldwide that USPTO patents have captured.
IDiyas is tracking prolific hyperlocal inventors in all these cities.

The site also tracks prolific inventors of Companies (Assignees) worldwide. Here’s the
link to the Global 1,000 Inventors.

This site aims to celebrate inventors and their ideas. A select few ever get the
recognition that they deserve. A vast majority of inventors end up being faceless and
voiceless. The site celebrates them by giving them podium standings (#1, #2, #3) within
their geographies. IDiyas offers an easy way to visualize inventors’ stack rank with
others (by volume, specialty, keyword, quality, or landscape).

When two or more inventors start collaborating (the proverbial serendipitous meeting
leading to many more ideas), many innovations are born. IDiyas wants to build an
engaging forum for inventors to vet ideas, trends, and commercialization in a safe,
trusted environment. Contacting fellow inventors within their respective cities to discuss
ideas has become easy. Collaborating with them could not have been easier.

The following pyramid illustrates the number of inventors by patents.

Distribution of inventors

Inventors with one patent is 52% of the Inventor population; Inventors with two patents
is ~17% of the base; 3-4 patents are 13% and 5-14 patents are 13% of the inventor
base. So, any inventor with more than 15 patents is 5% of the base.

Every inventor with a USPTO-issued patent has an associated digital inventor badge
that summarizes their patenting history. IDiyas’s Digital Inventor Badge (DIB)
showcases an inventor’s inventive prowess in granting Utility, Design, and Plant
patents. The data has been tracked since January 1, 1976, and refreshed each
Tuesday. The data benchmarks an inventor’s prolific-ness to other inventors in their city,
state, company (assignee), country, and the world. The badge reflects an inventor’s
success in granting patents across their career.

The site also profiles the person via their patent portfolio via Generative AI and builds
an extensive biography of the inventor. The site has generated over five million
biographies this way.
