Abstract

Disclosed herein is a pictureAn imagedisplay controlling apparatuscapable of improving the user's ease of operation upon selecting pictureallows a navigation of imagedataitemson asmall-sizescreen ofdigital cameras or the likean image capturing device.PictureThe imagedata items held in a data holding unit()are sorted intopictureimage datagroups. The location of thepictureimagedata item most recently displayed fromany of the picture groupsa selected image data groupis heldasinapicture resume pointer in a resumepointer holding unit(). With an operation input accepted from the user by an operation inputtingdevice ()unit, a display controlling unit()causes a displaying unit()to display thepicture designatedimage selectedby the operation inputwhile effecting transition from the current display status retained in a status holding unit (). If the operation input designates transition from a first picture group to a second picture group, the location of the picture data item currently displayed from the first picture group is placed into the resume pointer holding unit (), and the location of the picture data item to be displayed anew from the second picture group is retrieved from the resume pointer holding unit ().When the operating inputting unit receives a re-selection of the selected image data group after an intervening selection of another image data group, the display image controlling unit displays the image data item.
