Abstract
In a telecommunications system, components which fail and have backup resources are dynamically remapped to insert the backup resource in place of the failed component. A configuration database containing data for each resource in the switching platform of a telecommunications systems can be dynamically searched to identify backup resource and dynamically updated to reflect addressing and connection data for remapped components, thereby allowing dynamic replacement of failed components in the switching platform that is transparent to the applications processor of the telecommunications system.
