Abstract
A backlightis provided with a frame bodythat is in contact with a side surface of a light guide plate, and a non-light emitting region surrounding a light emitting region of a light emitting surface of an LED. The side surface of the light guide plateand the LEDcan be brought close to each other, while preventing a contact therebetween by means of the frame body. Furthermore, by means of the frame body, light emitted from the LEDis prevented from leaking out from between the light emitting surface of the LEDand the side surface of the light guide plate. Consequently, the ratio at which the light emitted from the LEDis inputted to the light guide plateis increased, thereby improving luminance or power saving performance of the backlight
