A steering shaftis constructed by an input shaft, an intermediate shaftconnected to the input shaftthrough a first torsion barand an output shaftconnected to the intermediate shaftthrough a second torsion bar, and around the input shaft, there is provided a first resolverfor detecting a rotation angle of the input shaftand around the intermediate shaft, there is provided a second resolverfor detecting a rotation angle of the intermediate shaft, and the first and second resolversandare arranged to constitute a torque sensor TS that detects a steering torque.
