Abstract

A method of calibrating a standby duration (D) of a proximity detection sensor, the sensor alternating between measurement phases (P), the evaluation duration (D) of which is measured by a first oscillator (O) of stable frequency and standby phases (P), the predetermined standby duration (D) of which is controlled by a second oscillator (O), the frequency of which varies according to external parameters. The method provides for performing immediately after the measurement phase (P), a second measurement phase (P) during which a second evaluation duration (D) is measured by the second oscillator (O) and calibrating the standby duration (D) using the ratio between the number of oscillations (N') generated during the evaluation duration (D) by the first oscillator (O) and the number of oscillations (N′) generated during the second evaluation duration (D) by the second oscillator (O).
