Abstract

A damper assembly () is disclosed, and it comprises: a first rube () defining an inner surface () extending along an axis (A) to define a fluid chamber () containing a damping fluid (); a rod () extending axially in the first rube (); a guide () annularly disposed about the rod () and engaging the first tube (); a piston () and a retainer () which are attached to the rod () and are slidably disposed in the first tube (); a first spring () engaging and extending axially away from the retainer (); a valve body () which is disposed adjacent to the first spring () and has a periphery () spaced from the inner surface () of the first tube () to define an annular channel (); a second spring () extending axially away from the valve body (); a bumper () engaging the second spring (). The valve body () moves into sealing engagement with the retainer () in response to the bumper () engaging the guide (). This causes the damping fluid () to move exclusively through the valve body () providing additional damping force.
