Abstract
A novel cloud RAN architecture which allows pooling the baseband resources to optimize both CAPEX and OPEX. The cloud baseband unit provides a pool of LTE channel baseband signal processing elements that can be assigned to remote radio units based on the traffic load. The LTE channel baseband element or elements can also be shared among a group of remote radio units.
