Abstract
A protective cap () for application on a medical device such as a medical vial () comprising a membrane holder () in which a resilient membrane () is mounted. The protective cap () is provided with connection means () for connecting the cap () to the medical device (). The resilient membrane () comprises a piercing portion () and a sealing portion () and is mechanically and/or adhesively held in the protective cap () and is arranged to be brought into sealing contact with a receiving portion of the medical device () when the protective cap () is applied on the medical device ().
